Needless to state, the examples of application shown in the drawing are only those of nonlimitative character, the invention permitting of variants and modifications according to the type and model of the apparatus upon which the devices are mounted.
I therefore claim:
1. In a motion picture projecting machine, a film f eding mechanism including a vertically reciprocating frame, a film-feeding clutch ex-' tending vertically in front of said frame and having its lower end pivoted to the frame and its upper portion projecting above the frame and provided with film engaging claws extending away from the frame, a spring arm extending from the upper end of said clutch over the upper end of the frame, a rotary shaft, a cam carried by said shaft and operating in the frame for reciprocating-the frame, a second cam carried by said shaft and engaging the spring arm for rocking the clutch towards and away from a film during vertical reciprocation of the frame and clutch, a blade carried by said clutch and extending downwardly therefrom below said frame, an abutment member movable into and out of position to engage the lower portion of' said blade and control tilting of the clutch, and, means for adjusting the abutment member.
2. In a motion picture projecting machine, film aoemao feeding mechanism including a vertically reciprocating frame, a film-feeding clutch extending vertically in front of said frame and having its lower end pivoted to the frame to mount the clutch for swinging movement relative to the frame into and out of feeding engagement with a film, a spring arm extending from the upper end of saidclutch over said frame, means for reciprocating the frame and acting upon said arm to effect swinging of the clutch during reciprocation of the frame, a blade carried by said clutch at one side thereof and extending vertically below the clutch and downwardly beyond the lower end of the frame, and control means including a member movable into and out of position to engage the lower end portion of said blade and prevent tilting of the clutch into position to have feeding engagement with a film.
3. The structure as claim 2 wherein the control means consists of a driven shaft rotatably mounted transversely of the blade in crossing relation to the lower portion thereof, a disc pivotally mounted for swinging movement about a vertical axis into and out of position to engage the blade and prevent movement of the clutch towards a film, a lever arm extending laterally from said disc at the vertical axis thereof, a cam carried by said driven shaft for engaging said lever arm and swinging the disc about its axis, and means for controlling rotation of the driven shaft.
