The disk 23 or the like and means for automatically resetis cut away along its central portion to pro-,

The closure disk 26 is provided centralful in connection with screen doors which are 1y with atiny orifice 27. With this construc-, urged toward the door frame by springs. The head may 20'bodying my invention and shown applied to a be secured to the stem 21in any suitable man- 76 door and door frame, the air tube being shown ner. In the illustration given, the head 28 is in longitudinal section and the section being provided with attachment lugsor ears 29 which taken as indicated at line 1 of Fig. 2; Fig. 2, a are clamped about a reduced portion 30 of the top plan view; Fig. 3, an enlarged sectional view, valve stem. The tube 17 is provided at its inner tension 34 is brought into contact with the stud end with an opening 18 and at its opposite open 14 and guides it into the slot 31. If desired, the end is threaded to receive cap 19. The cap 19 roller 15 may first contact with the cam surface is provided with an opening 19. The cap 19 is 32 and be guided thereby into the mouth of the preferably provided with an apertured boss 20 slot. The piston stem is then urged inwardly 551 adapted to receive and guide the valve stem 21. so as to force the piston head 22 toward the open- '19 ing 18. The pressure causes the piston head 26 to seat against the lower portion of the tube 1'7 and permits escape of air only through the tiny orifice 2'7. This action results in a cushioning of the stem and allows the door to come against the door jamb slowly and silently.
While the door check has been illustrated as providedwith a check valve, it will be understood that this may be dispensed with, if desired, and the tube 17 provided merely with a tiny orifice instead of the large orifice 18. Other changes in the details of construction may readily be made without-departing from the spirit of the invention.
The foregoing detailed description has been given for clearness of understanding only, and no unnecessary limitations should be understood therefrom, but the appended claims should be construed as broadly as permissible, in view of the prior art.
II claimz. Y i 1 H 1. In combination witha dooryand door frame, a stud supported by oneofsuch members in spaced relation thereto, a stationary support secured to the other member, a stem reciprocally guided in said support, means carried by said support for cushioning the rearward movement of said stem, and a head secured to the outer end portion of said stem and provided with a laterally extending slot, said slot having an open end adapted to receive said stud.
2. In combination with a door and door frame, a stud supported by one of said members in spaced relation thereto, a stationary support carried by the other member, a stem reciprocally guided therein and aligned with said stud, means for cushioning the rearward movement of said stem, and a head secured to the forward end of said stem and having a tapered laterally extending slot therein, said head being also provided with a lip extension on the inner side of said slot.
3. In combination with a door and door frame, supports carried by said'door and door frame, a stem reciprocally guided in one of said supports, means associated with said last mentioned support for cushioning the rearward movement of said stem, and releasable interlocking members carried by the other support and bythe free end of said stem, one of said interlocking members comprising a stud andthe other interlocking member comprising a head having a laterally extending slot, said slot having an open end adapted to receive said stud.
