This invention appertains to safety razors, and more particularly to safety razors of the type embodying dual, superimposed shaving blades,.such as is illustrated in my pending application, Serial Number 617,285, filed June 15, 1932.

One of the, primary objectsof my inventiongis' to provide new and novel means for desired curvature will be imparted to the blades to give the desired sm00th,]close shave, and to permit the effective cleaning of the razor and blades by merely agitating therazor in a bowl of water. V

Another prime object of'my invention is to providea safety razor embodying a pair of dual shaving blades, with novel spacing members in; the form of U-shaped leaf springs, one of the legs of the spring members being ofa corrugated or sinuous form, so as to insure the proper spacingof the blades, andv to insurefthe passage of water between the blades during the cleaning operation, the U-shaped spacing members acting to hold one of the blades in position .dur-. ing the assembling of-the razors.

A further object of my invention is the provision of novel means for associating the U-shaped spring spacing members with the razor, whereby the same will be accurately held in position against accidental displacement, so as to insure the proper association thereof with the blades.

A still further object of my invention is provide novel spacing members of the above character, which can be manufactured at an extremely low cost and quickly associated with the razor and blades.

' With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction,

In accordance with my present invention I provide novel means for holding the cutting blades 12 and 13 in their proper spaced position, and this means insures the proper curvature to the blades so as to bring about the correct shaving operation. This novel spacing means for the blades embodies substantially I U-shaped, resilient, spacing members 16, which are adapted to be disposed on the opposite sides of the razor. Each of the spacing members 16 embodies spaced inner and outer legs 17and 18 and a connecting resilient bite portion 19. In accordance with my invention the'inner leg 17 can be corrugated or formed 1n a sinuous manner, so as to provide ineffect lugs 20 with channels 21 therebetween.

In the use of these spacing members 16, the same are preferably slipped over the guard directly inwardly of the teeth of the guard. The other. leg 18 can engage the outer face of the guard, and owing to the resilient connection between the legs m plate 11 can be provided with a 17 and 18, the leg 17 tends to hold the blade 1:2 in position.

After the spacing members have been properly disposed, the clamping plate 11 and the other blade 13 can be arranged in place, after which the handle 15 can be manipulated so that the blades will beheld in their properly spaced position with the desired curvature.

Vhile I have stated that the spacing members are associated with the guard 10, it is to be understood that the same can be associated with the clamping plate 11, in which the instance the same will initially engage the blade 13.

It is essential that the spacing members be properly and accurately disposed so that the same will be positioned inwardly of the cutting edges of the blades, and I provide means for insuring this proper positioning of said members. i

As shown in Figure 1 of the drawing, the outer face of the guard 10 can be provided with longitudinal grooves 22, in which the outer le s 18 of the spacing members can fit.

This form of my invention is open to modification, and in Figures 3 and l I have shown two other forms of this feature of the invention. In Figure 3 I have shown eyes 23 for receiving the lower leg, and in this instance the low-er leg can be of a circular shape in cross section.

In Figure l I have shown the guard provided with openings 24 extending longitudinally through the same, into which the outer legs can fit. In this form of the invention the legs 18 are entirely hidden from view.

lVhile I have stated that the inner leg 17 is of a corrugated or sinuous form, obviously the leg canbe formed flat and provided with oppositely directed lugs or pins 25 to form the desired spacing members and channels. The U-shaped spring spacing members can be manufactured at a low cost and serve as an admirable means for properly spacing the "2 blades and to insure the easy cleaning of the blades by the forming of passage-ways or channels between the blades.

Changes in details may departing from the spirit or scope of the in vention, but what I claim as new is:

I claim 1. A safety razor comprising a guard, a clamping plate, means for adjusting the guard and clamping plate toward and away from each other, a pair of super-imposed blades arranged and clamped between the guard and plate, and U-shaped spacing membe made without.

A safety razor comprising a guard, a clamping plate, means for adjusting the guard and clamping plate toward and away from each other, a pair of super-imposed blades arranged and clamped between the guard and plate, and means for spacing the blades including a substantially U-shaped resilient member having inner and outer legs, one of said legs being disposed between the blades inwardly of the cutting edges thereof.

A safety razor comprising a guard, a clamping plate, means for adjusting the guard and clamping plate toward and away from each other, a pair of super-imposed blades arranged and clamped between the guard and plate, means for spacing the blades including a substantially U -shaped resilient member having inner and outer legs, one of said legs being disposed between the blades inwardly of the cutting edges thereof, and means on the inner leg for engaging the opposite faces of the blades and forming water channels therebetween.

4:. A safety razor comprising a guard, a clamping plate, means for adjusting the guard and clamping plate toward and away from each other, a pair of super-imposed blades arranged and clamped between said guard and plate, and means for spacing the blades at their cutting edges including U- shaped resilient members arranged on opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the razor, each of said spacing members including inner and outer legs, the inner leg being disposed between the blades and having a corrugated form.

5. Asafety razor comprising a guard, a clamping plate, means for adjusting the guard and clamping plate toward and away from each other, a pair of super-imposed blades arranged and clamped between said guard and plate, means for spacing the blades'including a pair of substantially U- shaped resilient members arranged on opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the razor, each of said members including inner and outer legs, the inner leg being disposed between the blades, and means on the razor forengaging the other leg for holding the same against lateral shifting movement.
