Description

Nov. 24, 1931. L. LISCHEID HOLDER FOR PENS AND PENCILS Filed Feb. 7; 1930 INVENTOR.
ATTORNEY l aten t edl New; 24, 11931 UNITiEosTArEs PM LEVONA LISCEEID, or NATIONAL eI'rY, CALIFORNIA, nssrenon To :aAnn nrsonnrn or HoLDER Fort rnnsnnn IfENGILS" Application filed February zieaoi's iia ntlfaeasaj I My invention relates to holders forpens, and pencils,- and the objects of my invention are: First, to provide a pen and pencil holder which may be readily attached to a garment along the line 5-'-5 in Fig. 4.
not ordinarily having a pocket, such as a shirt; second, to provide a holder of this description having means for receiving the clips of the pen or pencil and enclosing the body portion thereof; third, to provide a. holder of this description whichadequately protects the clothes of the'wearer from..pos.-' sible damage or stain and the wearer from injury due to the point of the pen or pencil; fourth, to provide a holder which will accommodate pens and pencils-of various thickness and length; fifth, to provide. a holder which may extend into a pocket of a garment without preventing the use thereof for carrying other articles; and sixth, to provide a holder which is simple and economical of manufacture, durable, and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order. r
With these and otherobjects in View as will appear hereinafter, my invention; consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in-the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon, which form a part of this application,'in which:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary view of a gar-J .ment to which my novel holder is secured;
Fig. 2' is a developed view of the holder; Fig. 3 is a view thereof seen fromits upper end, with parts and portionsbroken away; Fig, 4 is an elevational View, while Fig. 5 is a fragmentary, sectional view thereof taken Similar characters'of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several vviews of the drawings.
Referring to Fig. 2, it will be noted that the holder is made preferably of a single piece of a relatively flexible," strong, moisture proof material, and in its developed plancomprises a relatively long, rectangular portionl and p a narrower transversely directed portion 2,
the two portions forming substantially a T. I
asiindicated inF ,ig.,1.
The longer pa ta-Y1 isflfbldedi'upwardly along'i-tstransverse medianline 10, forming thereby the front portion la and'rearportion liboffa pocket, said portions beingsewed-to gether along their side margins with the upper fend remainingl open substantially along" the base of the upper portion 2: 1The upper portion 2 is folded downwardly along its longitudinal median line'2a, andlis sewn along its 'marginsincluding-its base Qbadj a cent the upper end of the pocket 1, thereby forming a band ofdouble thickness material. The'ends of the band 2 maybebevelled as at 20 in F ig.-4, and to their rearsides are sewn clips 3," which are adaptedtolbe engaged by, v stl dsp QYidGd .iii'proper spaced relation on the garment to the pocket e to be attached.
' Along the? f striplais secured in such manner as; toforin loops laofvarions sizes throughwhich "the i 5 pens'andpencils are adaptedgtorbe inserted, I
The strip 4. iis positionedabove theffiea- 'ing of the pocket '1. Theloopportion'ofthe strip 4 is: of somewhatshorter {length-than.

. ily enterthe pocket The clip on the pen or pencil if such is provided,wil l pass over the? rent poaian trthstaaarga strip and beretained thereby,thus serving the function for which it was intended, j i
' It will be noted that in forming theholder in themanner described, theiband portion2, which is adapted to befsecure'd to thegarment, is of relatively great strength, and
this is enhanced by the stitching inthe strip 4 forming the loop. It will also be noted that the rear portionlb, while forming an integral portion or continuation: of the rear portion ofthe band 2, is further secured'to i the front portion of the band by themarginal" stitching along the base 26 of the band 2., This structure results in alstronganddurable; holder. i V
The pocket portion 1 protects the pen'san'd l 1 pencils from possible damage, and at thegj T same time protects the garmentsof the wearer fromdamage or ink stains due to a leaky'j pen,jand also protectsthe wearer from pe 15 @iAs indicated-in Fig. 1, "vvhen the holder is "placed within the pocket on a garment, the front portion 2oeou ies a'positionrsli-ghtly above theopening'o the garment pocket P so that the upper ends of the peneilsand pens it are entirely elear ofthe garment: flfhisien i ables the wearer to place other artieles, such}; 4 t, v:1 r. s V r as the memo book A-indicated in Fig, 1 be V V E tween the f ont Portion 1a ofzth pio'keta'nd 111* T; gist V the outer portion of the garment poeket P. i
