Description

T. BUNKER.
BALETIE BUCKLE.
No. 181818. Patented Sept.5,18 76.
NJE'IERSA PHC-To-UTNDRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D c.
UNITED STATES PATENT. OEETCE.,
THADDEU-s EUNKEE, 0E oUEEo, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT' lN BALE-TIE BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l S 1.818, dated September 5, 1876; application filed July 22, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:v
Be it known that I, THADDEUs BUNKER. of Cuero, De Witt county, Texas, have invented a new and Improved Bale-Tie Buckle, of which the following is a specification:
Figure '1 is a plan view of my improved bale-tie buckle, shown as appliedto a baleband 5 and Fig. 2 is a cross-section ofthe same, taken through line x w, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved bale-tie buckle which will not slip, and will not be liable to break when under great strain or cause the bale-band to break, the band not being weakened by holes or cuts, and which atthe same time shall be simple in construction, inexpensive in manufacture, and easily and quickly attached and detached. The invention consists in the half-ring bars, having small half-ring hooks formed upon their ends in the opposite direction, which secure the ends of a bale band, as hereafter fully described.
The tie-buckle is formed in two parts, A B, the body of each of which is made in the form of a haliring. The ends of the parts A B have small half-ring hooks a b formed upon them.
In using the tie-buckle each end of the band C is bent over upon itself to form a loop, through which the body of both the parts A B is passed in an opposite direction. After the tie-buckle 'has been applied, the ends of the small half-ring hooks a b meet, leaving sufficient space between the main parts A B and the small half-ring hooksv a b to clamp the inside end of the band C edgewise in a .manner not to cut or strain the band, but to make it an impossibility to slip or give Way.
The two parts A B are, through the strain on the bale-band, firmly held together by the loop of the bale-band G passing through the main body of said parts A B.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved bale-tie buckle, consisting of the half-ring bars A B, having small half-ring hooks formed upon their ends, securing the ends of a bale-band, substantially as shown and described.
TH ADDEUS BUN KER.
