the end standards; C, a rear bed-section carried by links C pivotally supported at points 2 on the mounting plates B; and D, a front bed-section carried by parallelfront links D, and parallel rear links D2, these links having their front ends pivotally connected, respectively, at points 3 and 4, with the bedsection D and having their rear ends pivotally connected, respectively, at points 3a and 4a with the mounting plates B.V

The main frame A may be of any suitable construction. In the illustration given, the end standards A may be assumed to constitute the arms of the sofa. These end standards are connected at their rear lower portions by members 5, and at their front lower portions by a member 6.

The supporting plates B are adapted to be secured, at points 7 with end standards A. These plates are provided with inclined slots 8 which receive headed studs 9 with which the mounting plates B are equipped. The supporting plates B are located near the front edges of the end standards, and the mount-ing plates B project rearwardly and are secured at the points 1 with the rear portions of the end standards, as by means of bolts equipped with wing nuts.

The rear bed-section C is shown as comprising a frame 10, upholstery springs 10a mounted thereon, and a Jfabric 10b enclosing said, springs, the whole constituting a resilient bed-bottom.

The frame 10 oi'j the rear bed-section preferably is carried by slides 11 connected by pivots 12 with the uper ends of the links C. ASlides 11 are connected by a bar, or link, 13, which is secured to the pivots 12. The endmembers of the frame 10 are slidably en gagcd by the slides 11. The bar 13 -is connected by a link 14 with a lug 15 carried by the lever D2, so that the links C will be actuated through the medium of the rear levers D2 of the front bed-section.

A radius bar 16 is connected at the point 2 with the mounting plate B and at the point 16a with the frame 10 of the rear bed-section. The front end of the link 16 swings through a short substantially vertical arc so that the rear bed-section is prevented from shift- Ving forwardly or rearwardly while it is being lifted or lowered. It will be understood that the structure of these fixtures is duplicated at each end of the sofa-bed.

What Il regard as new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is: Y Y

1 1. In a sofa-bed structure, a main frame, a pair offlinksfpivotally carried by each-end standard of said main frame, slides mounted on said links, a rear bed-section having a frame mounted on said slides, means for preventing undue shifting of the rear bedseetion when it is raised and lowered through the medium of said links, a pair of angular levers independent of said links having short arms pivotally connected with each end standard of the main frame, a front bed-seotion pivotally connected with the extremities of the long arms of said levers, and link conneotions between one set of said levers and said firstementioned links, said levers being adapted to carry the front bed-section bodily in upright position to a position in front of and above the rear bed-section in Converting the structure to bed-form and to carry the front bed-section bodily in upright position to a position superposed above the rear'bedsection in converting the structure to sofa form.

2. In a sofa-bed structure: a main frame; a pair of parallel links near each end of said frame having pivotal supports on the frame at one horizontal plane; a pair of angular levers at eaeh end of the structure having short arms having pivotal supports on the frame at a higher horizontal plane; a rear bed-section mounted on said links; a noninvertible front bed-seetion having pivotal connections with the long arms of said levers; and links connecting one pair of said levers with said first-mentioned links whereby the rear bedsection is actuated by swinging the front bedsection.

3. In a soft-bed structure: a main frame provided with end-standards; mounting plates carried by said end-plates; a pair of links pivotally connected with each mounting-plate at a given horizontal plane; slides pivotally Connected with said links; a rear bed-section mounted in said slides; a pair of bent levers at each end of the structure having long arms and short arms; pivotal connections between the short arms and said mounting-plates at a plane above the pivotal supports of said links; a non-invertible front bed-section having pivotal connections with the longarms of said levers; links connecting one set of said levers with said slides; and control-links connected with said mountingplates and with said rear bed-section.l
