This invention relates to a cigarette package, and an object of the invention is to provide an attractive form of package in which cigarettes may be packed and marketed and which will include simple, practical and efficient means by which the cigarettes may be easily and quickly discharged one by one from the package.

A more specific obj ectis to provide a package having a cigarette discharging device built thereinto adapted for discharging the cigarettes one at a time as the result of asimple manual manipulation of a part of the package.

A further specific object is to provide a package having a rotary trap door formed as a part of one of the walls of the package manually rotatable into and out of a position discharging a cigarette from within the package.

A further specific object is to provide means normally holding said trap door closed.

Other objects and aims of the invention,

Referring to the drawing for describing in detail the structure as illustrated therein, it will be seen that the package is of ordinary rectangular contour of the general proportions as common to ordinary cigarette packages adapted for containing a dozen or more of cigarettes. The package is formed of paper or cardboard of appropriate thickness and consists of top and bottom walls 1 and 2, opposite end walls 3 and 4 and front and rear walls 5 and 6. The paper or cardboard from which these walls are formed may be cut, folded, and gummed together in any appropriate manner, and it will be understood that a separate covering or wrapper of paper, as indicated at 7,. either transparent or otherwise, may be placed about the walls to more effectually seal the contents if desired.

In the front wall as 5 there is formed an opening 8 of suitable size to permit lateral discharge of cigarettes from within the package. Within this opening is a semi-cylindrical trap door 9 pivoted at its opposite ends as at 10 and 11 upon the end walls 3 and 4 so as to be freely oscillatable between open and closed positions. This trap door is of an appropriate size to receive and support within its concaved side one of the cigarettes as 11, approximately as indicated, and is adapted, when swung from its closed to its open position, to move around behind the supported cigarette and to" thereby'expose that particular cirgarette exteriorly of the package so that said cigarette will drop out free of the package.

Any suitable means may be provided for oscillatingthe trap door. For this purpose the drawing Figs. 1 to 4, suggests the use of a pull-thread as L connected with the door 7 and extending therefrom into connection as at 12 with the lower edge of a finger flap G pivotally mounted as a part ofthe rear wall 6 of the package.
