IMPROVEMENT IN STOVES FOR HEATING SAD-IRONS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 188,475, dated March 20, 1877; application filed January 22, 1877. K
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROSA MARTIN, of Portland, in the county of Multnomah, in the State of Oregon, have invented a Stove for Heating Sad-Irons, and other purposes, of which the following is a specification The object of this-invention is to save fuel, and the profusive heat of ordinary stoves in summer or at other times, when a small fire will answer all purposes.
Myinvention consists of a sheet-iron box,
provided with a lid or cover, A, chamber orv receptacle B, fire-box (3, door and damper D,
, whole firmly to the stove-pipe. On the bottom of the fire-box are some corrugated ribs I I of sheet metal, to keep the bottom from becoming too hot, and form an air-space below the fuel. E is a box, as it were, of sheet metal, having three sides, the middle or top part forming the bottom of the heating-chamber B, and the crown-plate of the fire-box 0. By this arrangement the bottom and sides are made double thick when the lid A is closed, thus protecting the' room from an excess of heat otherwise developed.
Small articles of food or anything to be warmed or cooked are placed in the receptacle B'.
The irons can easily be heated without heating the room in summer, or the stove .may be used in a sick-room without the annoyance of profuse heat.
I claim- A stove consisting of the parts A B O D E F G I, as shown, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
