Specification .forming part of Letters Patent No. 18,480, dated October 20, 1857.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NOAH WARLICK, of La Fayette, in the county of Chambers and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful .Im provement in Plows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,clear, and exact description ofthe construction of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure lis a furrow-sideview-of plow. Fig. 2 is a similar View of foot, showing small shovel secured thereto. Fig. 3 is a land-side view of foot, showing turning mold-board secured thereto. Fig. 4 is a front view of plow-foot.

Similar characters of reference in the several figures denote the same part of the plow.

The invention hereinafter to be described is designed as an improvement on my plow pa t ented in 1855, and consists of a foot with face adapted by a peculiar construction to the reception of either a shovel or turn mold-board.

In the drawings, F is the foot of the plow, and'B B the braces,by which it is secured to the beam A. This attachment is effected by bolts aa passing through braces and beam. The head of the rear brace, B, has a slot, b, through which bolt a passes, as shown in detached view. This gives a lateral adjustment of the plow-point for regulating the width of furrowslice.

The landside L is secured to the plow-foot by bolts ce', so as readily to be removed when not required, as will be the case when using the shovel in rough land. Y

The face of the plow-foot F is adapted to thereception of either shovel or turn moldboard in the following manner: The general surface of this face is inclined for the reception of the turn mold-boardl M, as indicated in lines o o, o o', o o of detached views XY Z, these views being sections on lines x x, fz/ y, and This surface is notched, as shown atf, and the triangular portion e d t', Fig. 4, cutaway, so as to leave a flat bearin g for the shovel S, which rests upon this surface and on thecorner p, Fig. 4, its head bearing against the notchf, as seen in Fig. 2. By this construction the stock readily receives the shovel, as shown in Fig. 2, and when required for a turn mold-board, M, the inclined surface receives it, as shown in Fig. 3, the notch fnot interfering with this bearing. There is a small flange, g, on the upper portion of the mold-board, which bears against the side of the stock.

R is the root-cutter, to be used with the turn mold-board or with the shovel, when required.

Having described my invention and the operation thereof, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The double-faced plow-stock, constructed, arranged, and operating substantially as and for the purpose hereinbetore set forth.
