ALFRED B. FRENNING, OF BELMONT, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE S, M.
HOWES COMPANY, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION OF MASSACHU- SETTS.
WOOD CARRIER.
Application filed February 17, 1928.
This invention relates to metal wood carriers and has for its principal object the provision of a light-weight but durable container or carrier for wood. which is convenient to transport and which is attractive in appearance without sacrifice of operative efficiency. Further objects reside in the particular details of construction herein described and defined in the appended claims.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which, Fig. 1 is a side elevation of my improved wood carrier, a portion of the carrier being broken away; and Fig. 2 is an end elevation thereof.
The carrier or basket consists of a body portion 3 formed of sheet metal disk, substantially cylindrical in development, which is stamped or rolled into a substantially semi-circular form, as shown in Fig. 2. The periphery of the disk is preferably rolled over as at 4: to reinforce the margin and to eliminate a sharp edge.
A pair of supports are provided to raise the body 3 above the floor, each support consisting of a metal strap 5 welded or otherwise secured transversely of the bottom of the body portion and a pair of legs integral with or fastened to the ends of the strap, as for example the metal strip 6 shown in the drawings as a continuation of the strap 5 and having curled feet 'l'. These elements are preferably enameled black in order to enhance the appearance of the article.
A handle, such as the brass bail 8 pivoted at 9 in brackets 10 riveted adjacent the top rim of the body portion, is provided so tha the device may readily be transported.
Serial No. 254,937.
A metalwood holder so constructed is inexpensive to manufacture, wear-resisting in use and harmonizes 1n configuration and color with the andirons and set of implements which are usually associated with a mit greater ease in removing sticks of wood from the carrier.
I claim: a
l. A wood carrier comprising a body portion formed of a curved sheet metal disk, a pair of supports for the body portion, each support consistin of a metal strap secured to the bottom surface of the body portion and a pair of legs depending from said strap, and a handle pivotally connected to the sides of the body portion.
2. A wood carrier comprising a body portion formed of a sheet metal disk curved upwardly to provide sides for the carrier and having its periphery rolled over, a pair of supports for the body portion, each support consisting of a metal strap fastened underneath the body portion and a pair of fiat metal legs depending from the ends of the strap, and having outwardly curled feet,
and a handle pivotally connected to the sides of the body portion.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature.
ALFRED'B. FRENNING.
