This invention relates to a combined chair, receptacle and dust pan.

The object of the invention is to produce a chair combined with a receptacle, for storing food products and other material. The second object of the invention is the production of a chair with a receptacle from which latter the 'dust and other foreign matter can be easily removed and collected in a dust pan. The third object of the invention is the production of a receptacle having a dust pan detachably locked thereto and which can be easily connected to the legs of a chair.

In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1 represents a front elevation of an exemplification of the improved combined chair, receptacle and dust pan; Fig. 2 shows a section of Fig. 1 on the line 2, 2; Fig. 3 is a top plan view of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 indicates an enlarged fragmentary portion of Fig. 2; Fig. 5 represents an enlarged partial section of Fig. 1 on the line 5, 5 and Fig. 6 shows a section similar to Fig. 5 with a modification.

The chair in this instance is indicated as having the pair of front legs 2O and the pair of rear legs 21. A sea-t 25 bears upon and is fastened to said legs, and from said seat upwardly extends the back indicated in its entirety by the numeral 28. A lid 32 is hinged to the seat 25 for an opening 33 therein, by means of the hinges 34.

A receptacle is indicated with the front wall 36 having the groove 37 in the lower portion of its front face, the rear wall 38, the side walls 39 and the bottom wall 40, having the plurality of openings 41.V The wall 36 is fastened to the legs 2O by means of nails 42, and the wall 38 may be fastened to the legs 21 in a similar manner. The seat 25 with its lid 32 constitute the top wall of the receptacle. It will be noted that the walls of the receptacle constitute an entirety, which is fas tened to the legs of the chair. f

A pair of similar guide brackets 43 are fastened to the lower face of the wall 40. A stop cleat 44 is also fastened to the lower face of the wall 40 and abuts against the rear ends of the guide brackets 43.

A plate spring 45 having the loop end 46 is fastened to the outer face of the front wall 36 with said loop end 46 opposite the groove 37. The spring with its loop constitutes a spring latch locking device.

A dust pan is indicated with the bottom wall 50, having the peak or front edge 51,'the

side flanges 56 are engaged with the -guide Vbrackets 43, and in so doing the front edge 51 first contacts with the loop 46 which swings clear of said edge. When the edge 51 bears against the stop cleat 44, the said loop bears against the outer edge 55 of the flange 54, and locks the dust pan in place below the openings 41. `When the dust pan is detached from the kbottom wall 40 the outer edge 55 of the flange 54 bears against the loop 45 and swings the latter clear of the said flange 54.

The receptacle may be charged with its food products or other material by swinging up the lid 32, and by means of the openings 41 the dust may be cleaned from the receptacle which drops into the dust pan.

In the modification indicated in Fig. 6 the legs 20 have right angular grooves 60 formed therein, and into which the corners of the receptacles extend and fastened in place by an adhesive or otherwise. It is to be understood that the corners of the rear of the receptacle canbe attached to the rear legs 21 in amanner similar to the connection indicated in Fig. 6.

Various modifications may be made in the y invention and the present eXemplifica-tion is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof. v

Having described` my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim is: In combination, a chair, a lid hinged kto the seat of the chair for an opening therein, a receptacle having walls constituting an entirety fastened to the legs of the chair, aofront wall for the receptacle having a groove, a bottom walll for the receptacle having openings therein, guide brackets fastened to said bottom wall, a dust pan comprising a bottom wall having a peak, tapered side Walls having side anges extending therefrom, a. rear wall connecting the bottom Wall and side Walls of the receptacle, said rear Wall having, a rear flange extending therefrom, and a spring latch looking device extending from saidreceptacle-V adapted to have its lower end swmg 1n said grooveV and coacting With said rear flange to lock Said dust pan 1n its closed position and to swing 1n an opposite direction and clear 10 4the dust pan when the-latter is detached from the chair.
