This invention relates to a service apparatus designed tor the convenience ot' motorists.
-An object ot' the invention is to provide an air and water tower oi a simple, cheap and durable construction.
Another object of the invention is to provide a water tower inwhich water is automatically drained'to prevent freezing.
Another object of the invention is to provide swinging air antl water hoses to be convenient for use with an automobile and at the saine time position the hoses so'that they will not be in contact with the ground, thereby preventing damaging of the hoses by automobiles running over the same.
Other objects and advantages will appear from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view et the tower and base;

Fig. 3 isa vertical sectional view ot the water valve, on an enlarged scale.
In the drawings, wherein the same part is characterized by the same numeral, part e is a cylindrical water tower secured to base 5 by suitable connecting means 6. The tower is open at the top, as shown at 7, though obviously it could be partially closed to prevent rain or snow entering the saine and iiiterfering with the pro 3er operation of the device. Extending through the tower is an air line 8 and a water line 9. One end of the air line goes to a reservoir ot compressed air (not shown). One end of the water line 9 is connected with a supply of water. The other end of the air line 8 goes to an air chuck 10 of the conventional type. The other end et the water line 9, at il, used to permit the iilling or" an automobile radiator.
ln use, the air line is swung down 1n posi tion.. as shown in Fig. 2. To the top of the water tower or column 4i, a bracket l2 is connected. Pivotally connected to the same is a swinging member 13, having suitable collars lei. surrounding the air line 8. Also attached to the pipe is another collar l5, carrying a rod 16. which connectedl with a retractile spring 17, attached to .hook i8.
After the air pipe or hose @is swungto operative position, shown in Fig. 2, the pipe is swung back to the position, shown in Fig. 1, by means of the retractile spring 17. Obviously the tension of spring 17 may be properly adjusted at any time by means of suitable nuts, as shown.
A substantially similar hinge construction is applied to water tube 9. This construction has a bracket 19 connected to tower 4 and hinged thereto a co-acting member 20. This is connected to a metal pipe 21, which is a part of the water line 9, by any suitable means, such as a collar 22.
When a pull is made on the water tube 9, at port 11, the water tube will swing te an outward position, in the same manner that the air tube would swing, as shown in Fig. 2. lVhen this water tube swings out, water will issue through port 11, to a vehicle radiator. lVhen the water tube isswung back to normal position, no more water will issue from port 11. This is accomplished by the following mechanism:
To the water tube 9 there is attached a collar 23, connected with a rod 2d, which is attached to a hook 25, this hook being adjustable through nuts 26. At right angles to the longitudinal axis of the hook 25, an arm 27 is connected to a valve stein 28. Around the valve stein is a spring 29 and at the lower end is the valve 30, clearly shown in Fig. 3. This construction operates as follows:
Upon a pull on the water line 9, say at 11, rod 24 will be pulled upward, lifting hook 25, arm 27, valve stein 28 and valve 30. Tater will then pass from pipe 31 int-o valve proper 32, elbow 33 and up through the tube 9 and issue at port 11. When the hand is released from the water tube, it will swing back to the position, shown in Fig. l and in this way rod 24 will diop and the valve 30 will close.
lVater, which remains in the water line, will run out through a port 34 or trom the end of the water line,` at 11. `In this manner, water will not remain standing troni the wr ter valve tothe end of the line l1, consequentl freezing cannot take place. It is, therefore, obvious that in freezing climates, this water tower may be used the yea-r around, without danger of bursting pipes.
Not only does the construction illustrated show a convenient means of suspending an air and water hose and a mechanism to prevent damage due to freezing temperatures, but it also places the air and water hoses at a convenient position for motorists. Furtherniore, as the hoses do not touch the i ground, they cannot become greasy or dirty nor can they be stepped upon or get under the Wheels of automobiles.
It is to be understood that the form et my invention, herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the saine, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts niay be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the sub-joined claiin'.

An apparatus of the character described con'iprising` a Water line havinga vertically disposed portion extending, `from a point below the surface of the Ground to an elevated point and having at its lowermost end a relatively sinall discharge orifice 'for draining said vertical portion, .said vertical portion having its upper portion in theV form or a rigidtube pivotally mounted to swing in a vertical plane, said Water line also having a freely movable portion depending from the upper end of said rigid tube and having at its free end a discharge port, a manually operable valvein the Water line, a collar on said rigid tube, a rod attached to said collar, hook nieans connected to'said rod and to the Water valve whereby when the free end of said depending portionis pulled said rigid tube will be pivoted to actuate said valve.
