Application filed January 7, 1927. Serial No. 159,65
This invention relates to a toldable wall extended beyond the back end of the table to table designed primarily for use in small provide a projecting ledge 9. rooms, means being provided whereby, when Extending transversely through the front the table is not in use, it will be supported in end portion of each of the recesses 4 is a pivot 5 an upstanding position against the wall but, pin and each pin projects through a short when in use, can be held iirmly in a laterally longitudinal slot 11 formed in one end porextended position relative to the wall. tion of a leg 12. This leg, when not in use,
A further 'object is to provide the table is seated within one Of the recesses 4; With its with legs for the outer or free ends thereof, free end in the recessed lower face of the 10 these legs being foldable into the table when block 6. lVhen it is desired to use the leg for J) not in supporting the table, however, the same is Afurtherobjectis to provide the table with swung to a position at right angles to the means whereby folda-ble chairs can be stored table top and is then thrust upwardly against therein, an additional receptacle being lothe top 1 where it is held against swinging cated within the table for holding linens or movement by abutment against the block other articles, To fold the leg the same is pulled downward- WVith the foregoing and other obj cts in ly relative to its pivot pin 10 and then swung view which will appear as the description back into the recess 4 as indicated by broken proceeds, the invention resides in the comlines in Figure 1.

A jaw 14 is scribed and claimed, it being understood that lnngedly connected to the front edge of the changes in the precise embodiment of the intop 1 and normally closed as the space bevention herein disclosed may be made withtween the inner side strips This space,
in the scope of what is claimed, without dewhich has been indicated generally at 15, is T5 parting from the spiritof the invention. adapted to receive small folded chairs 0 or In the accompanying drawings, the preother articles when not in use. If desired a ferred form of the invention has been shown. drawer 16 of sheet metal or other suitable In said drawings, material can be slidably mounted within the Figure 1 is a view partly in side elevation upper portion of the space 15, said drawer and partly i ecti showing the table set having laterally extending flanges 17 slidably up f engaging the strips 3. Additional chains 21 or Thus parallel Channels or recesses 4 are the like are secured to the wall W at a point Vlded: there bemg a block 5 Secured Wlthm below the table top and are inclined upwardthe front end of ea hp and another blo?k ly and attached, as at 22, to the bottom of the 6 with a recess 7 1n its lower face secured 1n f bl t t a i t b t th ll d th ea pa a a p t b w the ends therelower ends of the chains 18. These chains of. A board 8 closes all portions of the botare so proportioned that when the table is not tom of the table except the channels 4 and is in use they will support said table in a substantially vertical position flat against the wall WV as shown by broken lines in Figure 2. lVhen the table is in use, however, the inner end thereof will be firmly supported by the chains both against upward and downward movement while'theouter ends will be supported by the legs 12-. When the table i's in either of these two positions the weight thereof bearing on the chains 18 and 21 serves 19 to force the table firmly against the wall.
What is claimed is:
The combination with a fixed upstanding structure having a plane unbroken surface, of a table top, flexible supportingelenients secured to the upstanding structure and inclined downwardly away therefrom said elements being locatedent'irely outside of the upstanding structure, the lower ends of said elements being attached to the top of the 20 table adjacent one end thereby to hold said end. of the table by gravity against the plane unbroken surface of the upstanding structure, flexible 7 elements secured to the upstanding structure and extending 25 upwardly away therefrom, said elements being located entirely outside of the upstanding structure, the upper ends of said elements being attached to the table top near one end to hold it against upward swingin move- 30 ment relative to the flexible supportingelements, and legs movably connected to that end of the table top remote from the upstanding structure and constituting'means for supporting said end when the table top is set up for use, said flexible elements cooperating with the table top to hold it in an upstanding -position and maintain it by gravityagainst the upstanding structure, while in either extreme position or in any intermediate posiio lion, thereby to prevent the table top from pounding against the upstanding structure. In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature.
