` `o 3 formed in the bottom member or plate l be- The locking means, in this instance, coinprises two levers 13, pivoted on two headed pivots 14 on the back or rear wall 11, said levers being formed of sheet metal and having downwardly turned outer ends 15 with laterally extending ears 16. The inner ends of these levers overlap adjacent a key open- A ing 17 and the overlapping portions lie on opposite sides of a lip or partition 18 which extends upwardly from the lower edge of the rear wall. A single spring operates to hold the lower ends of these locking levers in their downward or locking positions and comprises, in this instance, a U shaped por tion 19 lying between the headed pivots 14 and having arms 2O extending outwardly and Y engaging above the lugs 16. .A barrel 21 j tween two upstanding projections 25. pressed from the metal plate.

The bottom member projects outvav'ardly beyond the side walls of the casing and a cover 26 ormedrof sheet meta-l with a de-4 pending surrounding flange is hinged at 2T to the bottom member preferablyby pivoting the cover to the cover piece 7. At Vthe swinging end of this cover 2G an inwardly turned bead 28 is provided which is adapted to engage beneath spring tongues 2f) formed on the front wall oi" the closure so that the cover 26 is held in its covering position against accidental displacenient while at the same time holding the closure inclpsed position. This cover member has an opening or vwindow in its top wall to expose the top vwall 2 of the casing, a flange 3() being provided about the margin of this window and being turned inwardly so that it acts as a clamping edge as will be described.

Associated with the bank is a sheet 21 formed of paper or other readily puncturable material. Preferably this sheet is in the form of a calendar of ordinary form having its date indicating characters 32 ar Vranged in vertical columns.` The sheet may also have the name 33 of the month and numbers 34 to indicate the year. Printed upon and associatedwithrrthe characters 32 are elongated figures 32a simulating` coin slots.

It will be noted that these elongated figures are arranged in parallel relation and are,

lin this instance, inclined with reference to the vertical columns of characters 32 on the calendar sheet, each elongatedfigure 32 not only extending` through the square enclosing one of the characters 32 but also extending into the square ot one or'more other characters 32.

The calendar sheet is held against the top 2 of the casing and to this end the casing top is provided. with overhauging lugs or projections 35 for engaging three edges of the calendar sheet, the edge adjacent the casing closure being free so that the calendar sheet may be moved in its plane so as to engage beneath all of the over-hanging .projectionsv 35. The top plate 2'of the casing has a plurality of coin slots 36 arranged in a plurality `of parallel lines preferably at an angle other than a right angle to the longitudinal axis of thelcasing, the slots in adjacent lines overlapping. rThese slots are identical with the elongated' gures32a on the calendar sheetV so that the figures 32a point out the positions of the slots.

lVith the end in view of protecting the calendar, holding the same over the coin slots in the casing, and, at the same' time guiding the coins .to the calendar and the com slots 1n the casing, there 1s provided a transparent holding or cover member-*37, in this instance, in the form of a sheet of Celluloid of the cover 26 abuts this Celluloid piece and Y,

Thel bank is designed 'tor' distribution byl savings banks and other financial institutions with the idea of inducing a customer to make daily deposits in the coin bank'. The paper calender sheet covers the coin slots 36 and whenV a coin is passed through the calendar' sheet, the latter ,fbecomes ruptured or perforated, thus indicating thel deposit has been made on the date indicated by the character 32 through which the rupture passes. kAs these coin slots are arranged in parallel lines in overlapping arrangement it is possible to situate a large number of the slots closely together, thus'making it possible to employ a small calendar sheet in connection with the bank. The calendar sheet is held in position `by a transparent holding member which not only serves to exposethe calendar but also serves to guide the coins through the proper character ofthe puncturable sheet and through the coin slots of the casing. The construction of. the bank as a whole is strong and durable. It'makes a neat appearance and can be inexpensively l 'si of the casing.
