an improved and efiicient indexdevice which 7 is simple in construction and therefore, adapted for manufacture at low cost, which may be quickly and easily applied to drawers, partitions, files and other filing or classification equipment.

A further object is'to provide an index device adapted to hold a classification card or label and formed from an integral piece of material so constructed as to yieldingly engage the front wallof a drawer, plate or p ,connects the card or label holding portion partition and hold the card or label at an angle to make the same readily visible.

' While I conceived my index device especially for use With standard racks, drawers,

or standard galleys for holding type in printing establishments, it will be apparent from the following description that my invention is equally applicable for use on drawers of all types and for use on dividing partitions,

classification cards and files.

The foregoing and other objects will be apparent from the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and in which,

A type galley drawer or rack of common construction is illustrated in the drawings, comprising a flat bottom 5, avertical front wall 6 and vertical side walls 7 having projecting forward portions 7 inturned and lapped over the adjacent portion of front wall 6 and spot welded or otherwise secured thereto.
