Description

G. C. CLARK CARD HOLDER AND EXHIBITOR April-28, 1931.
Filed Dec. 10, 1930 n r m WM m A 54 C WW my Patented Apr. '28, 1931 a rrso STATES GEORGE ecLARK, or INDIANAZPOLIS,.1NDI-ANA t 1 f CARD-HOLDER AND EXHIBITOR Applieation filed IQecember 10, 1930. Serial ndftoiaee.
My invention relates to. a card holder and exhibitor.
In accordance with my invention, I provide a card holder and exhibitor which is is stamped from a single flat sheet of mate rial, andthe stamping operation is such that the side of the holder, adjacent to the slot, is 1 bowed inwardly, and will automatically spring inwardly for pressing the card toward the windshield, thus preventing accidental displacement of the card through the slot.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in-which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a holder, embodying my invention, 7
Figure 2 is a transverse sectiontaken on line 22 of Figure 1, V s,
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1, looking in the direc tion of the arrow,
Figure tis a similar view, taken on line 4& of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows, and,
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the holder.,
The holder is formed of a resilient transparent or translucent sheet, which may be phane or other suitable material. I prefer to construct the holder of solphane, as it possesses the desired characteristics of transparency, resiliency, etc.', and is not explosive.
59 pocket 11, integral therewith, This pocket The holder is generally flat and is attached celluloid, orsolphane, also called cello-' 7 This material may also besecured in anyembodiesa face plate 12, connected with the frame 10, by a top portion 13, and 'e'ndportions '15, as shown. 1 There is alsoya bottom portion 1 1. .These portions are inclinedand converge: rearwardly" from the frame; '10, as clearly shown in thefdrawings. The outer edges 1 6'and 17" are parallel. The edges 16., of the top and bottomlportions"are,fprefer'- ably, parallel, while-the edges 17, of the end portions 15, converge downwardly, as shown. 69 Thefpocket has a longitudinal slot18,iadja cent to the bottom portion 14. The converging ofthe edges 17 is caused by-g radually increasing [the inclination of the ends 15, inwardly toward their lower ends,- thuspros ducing a fullness in the face plate 12,1atits lower edge, The device thus-"constructed embodiesa face plate 12, witha permanent inward bow oricurvature' .'within the face plate 12, adjacent to its lower edge. 'Asare- 70 sult of this, the lower edge of the'face plate automatically springs inwardly beyond the edge of the bottom portioirl l, pressing the card.towardthe-windshield toprevent the card from accidently passingthrough -the slot, after being inserted within the pocket; This is an important feature of the inven- I tion'li The face plate 12 is, preferably, pro videdeentrally thereof with an openinng 19,
so'tliat the finger may be passed'therethrough to e'ngage withthe card, toimanipulate the same init's removal. 7 i 7 m The marginal frame 10 is provided upon its forward side with a cementor adhesive coating 20, appliedtheretoprior, to the'in' stallation of the. holder uponj the vwindshield.
I may use an adhesive which will soften upon being heated, while any; othersuitable form .of adhesive maybe employed. i
V, In the use of he holder, 'it'- is arranged upon the rear 'side of the a windshield, {and placed upon the windshield so 'that'the ad'- he'siv'ef 20 will engage; with the windshield,
thereby securely attaching the marginal frame 10, to the windshield. The slot 18 is postioned at the bottom of the pocket. :The.
face plate'12 may-be bent outwardly by inserting the finger in the opening 19, or by the use of a suitable implement, and the card is than inse ted upwardly through the 1 1118,
pal
into the pocket 11 As soon as the face plate 12 is released, its resilient bowed lower edge will spring inwardly past the edge 16 of the bottom portion 14, thereby pressing the card toward the windshield in a mnaner to prevent the accidental displacement of the card through the slot.
It is to be understood that theform' of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a'preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, 7 sizes and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention, or the scope of the Subjoined claims I Having described my invention, what I 5 is: s I l. card-holder and exhibitor stamped from a single sheet of resilient light penetra- 20 ble materiah comprisinga marginalframe, a lpoclgetcarried by the frame and projecting laterally therebeyond, said pocket embodyinga resilient face plate and having a slot at sthefree edgecof the face plate, the resilient face plate being inwardly bowed adjacent to freeedge in adirection longitudinally of hes ts, a; 2.
