, ivrcoriivn s rorrnn non CIGARETTE HOLDERS App1ication filed June 6,1928; Serial No. 283383.
My present invention has reference to a '7 smokers article, and my object is the'pro- 'inai'ter described and definitely claimed.
vision of asimple, cheaply constructed and thoroughly efi'ectivemeans which is designed to be arranged in the bore of the stem and in the bore of the mouth piece of either a pipe, cigarette or cigar holder, and which means is provided with a chamber for the reception of an absorbent porous element that will serve as a stop and a retarding means for the obnoxious saliva from the Wet tobacco as well as a means for preventing vapors from the nicotine and the tobacco entering the mouth of the smoker and consequently insuring a cool, clean, and non-injurious smoke for the user of the device. i
To the attainment of the foregoing the ins vention consists in the improvement as here- In the drawings: r v I Figure 1 is a central longitudinal sectional view through a pipe equipped with the improvement.
Figure 2 is a similar sectional viewthrough a cigarfor cigarette holder .provided with the improvement. 7 f o I Figure 3 is a perspective view ofthe im-: provement with the parts constituting the same separated. l Y
' Figure 4c is a central longitudinal sectional view through "the improvement.
As disclosed by Figures 1 and 2' of the drawings, my improvement is. designed to be arranged in the stem and in the mouth piece of either a pipe 1 or a cigar or cig'arettehold er 2. In both of these figures the stem of the smokers article is indicated'by the numeral 3 and the mouth piece by thefnumeral 4. In
the bore of the stems 3 there is arranged a tube 5. As disclosed by the drawings this tube has its outer end cut angularly, as at 6, so that this end will, when the device is employed in connection with thepipelgrest in V the bottom of the smoke chamber of the bowl tofth'epipe and substantially conform to the shape of the bottom of the smoke chamber. The second end of the tube 5 is formed'with' an enlarged cylindrical extension or chamher 7, designed to have telescopically received therein a similar cylindrical chamber 8 formed on oneend of a tube 9 that is designed to be received in, the bore of the stem absorbent agent 11 such as raw cotton or tne like and the said tongue prevents the agent 11 from entering the tube 9. In addition to this cotton in' the chamber and causes the outer end of such raw cotton or the like to have its I end assume an angle at the part thereoi contacting with the tongue, so that the smoker is at all times permittedto freely draw the the tongue preventsthe packing of the raw smoke from the bowl of the pipe or throughacigar or cigarette. Also the tongue lOpermits of the ready withdrawal of the absorbent' agent 11 should the same becomesatur;
rated with. saliva and the oil from theto- I v bacco.
With y provement it will be seen i a the absorbent agent serves as a stop for any. tobacco crumbs, molstened tobacco or nicotlne vapor which would otherwise, be drawn into I the mouth of the user; The device is simple, i may be cheaply manufactured and may be readily arranged inthestem a'ndmouth piece of any ordinary construction of pipe,.cigar or.
cigarette holders, to insure a cool andhealthy smoke to the user thereof While I have illustrated asatisfactory embodiment ofmy improved'device'my features of invention are capable ofextendeda'ppl-i:v
cation-jand'l do not wishto be restricted to 1 the spec'ific structure hereinjshown and described. i V
Having described the invention, I claim:
- In a smokers article, the combination with.
a; stem and a mouthpiece connected with the stem, of tubes received respectively in the bore of the stem and in the bore of the mouth piece, eachof said tubes at the confronting ends thereof having cylindrical enlargements, one designed to be'received in the other, a substantially V-shaped tongue extending angularly into one of said cham- V bers, and'providing astop for an absorbent element which is received in said chamber.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
HARRY KRAMAR.
