' This invention relates to a tongue and teeth set for dolls and the like, the present application being in the nature of a division of copending application Serial No. 223,942, filed ()Ctober 4th, 1927.
An object of the present improvement is to I provide a'set which may be easily and cheaply manufactured and'which may be readily attached in position within the mouth opening of a doll head.
A furt-her object is to provide improved means whereby thetongue and teeth parts, of different colors, are easily andcheaply pro-- vi ded.
Other objectsand aims of the invention,
more orless specific than those'referred" to above, will be in part obvious and in part pointed out in the course of the following description ofthe elements, combinations,
arrangements of parts and applications; of principles constituting the invention;-'and the scope of protection contemplated will be indicated in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which are to be taken as a part of this specification, and
' in which I have shown merely a preferred form of embodiment of the invention Fig 1 is a front elevational view of a tongue and teeth set constructed in accordance with this invention, and
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially upon the plane of line IIII of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings for describing in detail the structure.illustrated therein, the
reference character L indicates a base or mouth representing portion, from the centre of whichprojects the tongue portion G. The teeth are indicated at H. These parts are all 7 formed from a single piece of sheet material,
such as sheet metal, sheet celluloid or the like, bent or otherwise formed and having one or more tangs or other appropriate fastening devices as 1.1 extending from marginal edge parts in proper localities for engaging the material of the doll head for fastening the device in position within the doll head, as more fully explained in said pending application. 7 i
The base or mouth portion L is preferably cupped, in simulation of the hollow interior of the mouth of a small infant, the tongue being 'pressedoutwardly from the mouth portion in a suitably characteristic shape and disposition. 7
1 It; is a particularfeatureof the present imformed. Inthe instance illustrated the teeth forming portion consists merely of a turned over 6251381181011 of a marg nal part of the base or body. It may bearranged'at any selected I 7 point about the margin of the base, either above or'below the tongue, or it maybedu-iplicated both above and below the tongue.
It may be given'any desired shape according to the artistic dictates of the designer, so
as to represent'anyform or number of teeth in any selected relation to the tongue and mouth opening of the doll headi. j i 1 The base and tongue portions are properly colored, forginstance a reddish colorto simulate the tongue and interior of'a childs 1 mouth, while the teeth are appropriately colored or-ma'de white," This coloring may be applied or effected in any'appropriate mannereither before or afterthe shaping of thesheet' material into set form, butit is herein suggested that as an'inexpensive and satisfactory manner of producing thedesired colorfefi'ect the piece of sheet material from which the set is to be formed shall be previ ously coated with an appropriate reddish coloring material as 2 on one surface and an appropriate whitish coloring material as 3 on its'opposite surface, so thatwhen' the set is completed the turning over of the teeth forming extension will expose' the whitish color upon the outer surface of the teeth por tion, the piece of material having been pressed with the reddish color on its forward side 'constituting the tongue G and the mouth porconnecting means between the tongue and the teeth. It may in some instance be reduced in size to constitute only a connecting means between the tongue and the teeth, the presence 'of a mouth portion at the base of the tongue being in this case practically dispensedwith.
As many changes'couldbe made in this construction without departing from the scopeof: the invention as defined in the fol lowing claimsiit is intendedthatall matter contained in the above. description, or shown in the accompanying drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative only and not in a limiting sense. i r
Having thus described my invention, What I. laim as n waml'tlee rei s e y ters Patent is 1 3 V A t n u and. t h s f r de d id et mpri in ebese ran hav ng a r tion projecting therefrom shaped to represent a tensi e, the Whole b in f df m "a S gle piece of sheet material of tongue color on itssurface from which thetong ue proi cts nd o t th o or n t reverse u f and a part of the base being turned over and extended toward the tongue portion to thereby'expose the reverse surface and sa dsurface being shaped to represent teeth.
} 2. tongue and teeth. set for dollheads and the like comprising a sheet of material of reddish color on one surface andwhitish color on the reverse surface,'said sheet of material being pressed and formedto provide the representation of a tongue on the first mentioned surface and to expose apart of the second mentioned surface in the cent the tongue. 3. Atongueand teeth set fordoll heads,
saidset comprising a'sheetof material of tongue color on onesurface and of teeth color on its opposite surface, said sheet being shaped to provide a tongueprojecting from form of-teethadjation being shaped to represent teeth in approprlate relation to thetongue portion.
6. A tongue and teeth set for doll heads and the like comprising tongue and teeth portions formed from a single integral piece of material, the tongue portion projecting forwardly from one surface of said piece of material and being'of reddish color on its forward surface, at least a portion of the opposite surface of said piece of material being of whitish colorand said portion. being bent to present said whitish color facingforwardly, and said portion being shaped to represent teeth in appropriate relation to the tongue.
I. A'tongue-and teeth set for doll heads sheet of material, a quantity of teeth color onthe opposite surface of said sheet of material, and said sheet of material being shaped to provide tongue and teeth from said portions respectively with the colors thereof both exposed at the same side of the sheet.

In testimonywhereof I affix mysignature.
