Description

QWITNESSES: l

UNITED STATES PATENT Orrrcn AMBROSE GIBAUDAT, OF NEUVY, (NOBIWOOD P. 0.,) NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN STICKS FOR DIPPING STAMENS FOR ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 75,070, dated March 21, 1876; application filed January 7, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AMBROSE GIRAUDAT, of Neuvy, (Norwood P. O.,) in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in. Sticks for Holding Threads for Dipping Stamens, of which the following is a specification Figure l is a side view of one of my improved sticks, part being broken away to show the construction. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same taken through the line a: 00, Fig. 1. Fig. 3'is across-section of the same taken through the line y 3 Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondingparts.
Thobject of this invention is to furnish improved sticks for holding threads for the stamens of artificial flowers while being cut into lengths, and while being dipped to form anthers, seed-vessels, fruit, Ste, upon their ends, and which shall be simple in construction and convenient in use.
The invention consists in the hook and the spring-clamps in combination with the parts ofthe stick, and in the combination of the three cords with the faces of the parts of the stick, as hereinafter fully described.
Aand B are the two parts of the sticks, which are made of the usual size and length. To the end of the lower part A of the stick is attached a hook, O, which enters and fits into a slot in the end of the other part B, to lock the said ends together.
Through transverse holes in the center and other end of the part A are passed strips D of spring metal, the end parts of which are bent upward so as to press against the sides of the other part B and lock the two parts together. The ends of the spring-clamps D are inclined outward slightly, so that the part B can be readily pressed down into place.
To the face of one of the parts, as A, near its side edges, and to the face of the other part, 'as B, at its center, are attached cords E, of candle-wick or other suitable material, to hold the threads securely, asindica-ted in Fig. 2.
With this construction, the stick can be readily and quickly applied to the threads, and will hold them securely while being dipped in the paste and manipulated to form anthers, seed-vessels, fruit, and other devices upon the ends of the threads.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Paten t 1. The hook O and the spring-clamps D in combination with the parts A B of the stick, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The combination of the three cords E with the faces of the parts A B. of the stick, substantially as herein shown and described.
A. GIRAUDAT. Witnesses:
JAMES T. GRAHAM, T. B. Mosnnn.
