sn'eciticat-i'ons thereof and in which like reference characters represent the same or sinnW ilar parts,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view in section on a longitudinal central plane, parts I'being broken away to more clearly show the detail construction.
'Fig 2 is a transverse cross sectional view at the front bolt looking towards the chim- Fig. f3 is a similar View of the stove using a. modification of the holding means com prising a tube spacer, a plain bolt and a wing nut.
4 is a detail horizontal sectional View of a fragment of the holding means inserted through the body and `chinniey portions shown in section. v
Fig. 5 is .a detail sideview of the sam parts with the holding means in section to show how it has been turned one quarter after insertion, to lock the parts in engagement.
Fig. 6 is an end view of the device knocked down and with the body portion and the grate inserted in the chimney portion.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the camp stove in one embodiment is `comprised of three principal. parts, a. body portion 1, a flat rigid chii'nneyportion 2, and a grate 3. The body portion 1s made up of `tour parts, a top having sides hinged Vthereto 'at its .side edges and adoor hinged thereto at its frontn edge. This top is ycut away at the rear and the edge 4, turned up. The chimney portion likewise has the front wider side cut awa-y at the bottom so that the body portion is inserted in the lowerl end of the chimney with the edge 4 of the body interlockably engaging the lower front edge of the chimney. The top of the body portion is just wide enough to iit easily within the longer chimney width. These two parts are held in engagement by a bar 5, extending through the side Walls of the chimney and body sides as shown in Fig. 4. This bar is 1924. SeralNo. 713,910;
oblong in section and is reduced near the 'endsto form necks 6, so that when the bar is turnedas shown In Fig. 5, after Insertion through oblong holes 7 in the chimney and body sides, the parts are locked in i place.. A second bar is similarly inserted through the side walls ot' the body portion near its frontend in order to additionally space the side walls and'also to serve with the -tirst bar 5, as a support for the grate. f"
The grate is corrugated and perforated as shown.
The front .door is shorter vertically than ,the Side walls so as' to leave an inlet forair below the 'grate when the door ifs closed. The door may also beyop'ened partially as shown, being proppedr open if necessary. In them'odilication shown in Fig. 3, the holding means is comprised oit' a tube 81 of a length equal to the distance between the sidev walls oi the body portion when set up; a plain bolt82 extending through a side wall, the tube, and the 'other side wall, and a wing nut 83 screwed onto the bolt 82, to draw the sides 'of the body portion tightly against tube 81 and hold all the parts in place. Of course, where the 'holding means is located at the rear, the bolt will also pass through the 'chimney sides to lock it to the body. This modified hol-ding means requires Vonly round holes 'to be punched into the sheet metal instead of oblong holes in the modification first described.
In setting up the stove, the sides ot the body portion are swung to vertical position and the rear end inserted in the cut away lower part of the chimney with the edge 4 overlapping the lower edge of the `chimney stront`V wall, as shown in Fig. 1. The bar 5 is then inserted'th-rough -alined openings in the side walls of the two parts and given a quarter turn. The second bar 8 is inserted through the remaining holes in vthe side walls of the body portion and Agiven a quartery turn. The grate is then put in place, resting on the bars 5, 8. The door at the front may be adjusted as desired.
hen the parts are knocked down, the chimney may beused as a container for the remaining parts as shown clearly in Fig. 6 thus constituting a flat package.
