-which will be fully explained. It is to be I ing dishesof various foodstuffs,
. r m .10 thetable. I i Another object of the invention is in the evision offa 20 above. described formed entirely of stamped sheet metal and c one which maybe transported as a unit when I ings, wherein like reference'characters B0. "Figu're'lis I relative position of parts beneath ltray My present invention relates to revolving traysgespecially of is to provide a revolvabletray for hold: whereby persons sittlngat any place around the tablemay easily brin any desired dish immediately in front of them; thereby eliminating novel revolving self serving tray so constructed as to revolve very freely,
due to the novel'arrangement of the various 15 parts, and one having so formed as to facllitateturning of' -the" its marginal portion other ob'ect of the invention is to provide a very-efficient self serving tray of the character which (may be Other object's and'advantages appear 25 in the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawnate corresponding parts throughout the a top plan view ofni revolvable tray and showmg-indotted "es the I welladapted for use upon, dining tables, and the primary object thereof hot and heavy dishes across design observed that the upturned scalloped edge 11 also prevents dishes or other articles from dropping or slidin from the disc 10.
Thebase C consists o with an upwardly pressed recess 14 provided with an aperture 15; the recess 14 and aperture 15 to be;formed axially of the disc 13. I The rotatable roller carrier D which is also formed of sheet metal, is of triangular and has provided at its axial center, ture 16. Rollers 17 which are rotatshape an ape ably lar shaped carrier D, are adapted to engage the under face of the tray member B and a disc 13 formed mounted at each point of the triangw the upper face of the .base C, and these rollers are'adapted to revolve asthe tr? members Bfis. moved about the pivot These rollers are mounted on radially ex- I tending stub shaft 17 formed on each point of the, triangular shaped carrier 1;) as biz 'clciltting triangular shaped blanksfrom'eac en "and held against displacement by the of the carrier adjacent it's pointedflattening of the shafts as at 9. If desired,
rubber tires may be laced o'n'the'rollers 17 or the rollers made 0 a metal hub for mounting on the shaft 17 The pivot E consistso a bolt 18 adapted to pass 1 through the various elements for axially aligning the same and providin retaining means for rubber or the like with c I the elements. The-bolt 18 is provided with acountersinkhead 19 '40 i Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary section for "seating 111 the depression 12 and tliereby providing a smooth upper face for the tray 'member B. I'he shank of the bolt 18 may1 be threaded for reception of a nut 20 whic lies in. the recess 14 formed in thebase C andit cane-beseen that by so forming the '14 in the baseC, that a smooth bearing taken on the line 5550f Fig. 3; surface will be obtained for the tray A. e
Referring to the drawing in detail, the Aspacer or' letter designates generally an improved shank. of the bolt 18 is positioned between the revolving tray comprising-a tray'member' tray member B and base (I for reventing B, a base, and a rotatable roller. carrier "binding'of the'rollers 17 when t e nut 2Q I) sa dtray member- B and carrier D to. is tig" ed p e b 1 '18- Th nl r 'I Y G about a ivot-E. S- edge of the depression 12 is adapted-to bear The tray mem rB hich is preferably of" against the upper end of the spacer or sleeve A w 1g, 2. is a {central transverse section 35 throu'ghgthe same." Y
- Fig-'3 is fasecti0na l view taken. onHthe line3-"3ofFigure'2.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary section I taken on the line 4 4 ofFigure 1.
sleeve 21 which encircle's'the V I sheet metalbf any' 'desired gauge consists of a disc 10 havinghits marginal edge upll si on 12 of frusto-conical configuration is proof the 10; the purpose of i 21 and thereb forma rigid support for the I center of the ray member B.
It will therefore be seen that as the tray i member B is revolved, that it will roll on three revolving rollers which'will eliminate friction between themember B and base C as the roller carrier D will also revolve as the mem el B is turned about the pivot E Various minor changes in detail ma be made without departing from the spirit or scope of my inventionbut I claim:
1. In a revolving tray, the combination with a base portion having a smooth upper surface, and a tray portion having a smooth lower surface; of means for rotatably supporting the tray portion above the base portion, comprising an axially disposed pivot means rotatably connecting and supporting 2 the tray portion in spaced relation above the base portion, a triangular shaped roller carrier ormed of sheet metal, revoluble upon the pivot means between the base and trav' portlons and having portions cut from each edge thereof adjacent each point of the carrier and forming radial] extending stub shafts each having shouldiars formed at its inns! end, a roller mounted upon each of sea shafts and engaging the confronting faces of the base and tray portions for rotatably supporting the tray member in paral lel spaced relation above the base portion,,
and means for preventing movement 'of the rollers off of said shafts. Y
2. A device of the class described comprising a base member formed of sheet metal, a tray member formed of sheet metal and having upturned marginal edges, axially 'sposed pivot meansrotatably connecting andsupporting the tray member in parallel spaced relation above the base member, and a triangular shaped roller carrier rotatably mounted on the. pivot means between the base and tray members and having each point thereof out out to form radially extending shafts, said shafts being adapted to revolvably receive rollers and have their ends flattened out for retaining the rollers on the shafts.
