UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TOILET APPLIANCE.
Application tiled February 27, 1926. Serial No. 91,195.
This invention relates to a toilet appliance. It more particularly relates to a holder for toothbrushes and paste.
An object ot this invention is to provide a holder for toothbrushes and paste wherein the brushes and paste are readily accessible and may be removed therefrom easily. V
Another object is to provide a sanitary place for toothbrushes and paste which may be conveniently carried about or secured to a wall or other place.
Another object is to provide a holder for toothbrushes wherein the brushes will be held in a substantially vertical position and the bristles thereof will be out of contact with the holding means.
Another object is to provide a toothbrush and paste holder which may be easily and inexpensively manufactured.
Other objects and advantages inafter appear.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the toothbrush and paste holder; and
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view tsken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
The device comprises in general a back 1 and a base 2. Preferably the back and the base are formed from a single piece of sheet material by bending the lower por tion ot the sheet along the line 3 to form the base 2 in order to provide means for attaching the paste holders to the back and base, the same provided with openings 4, 5 and 6 in the back and openings-7 and 8 u the base. The `) aste holders 9 and 10 are vformed by bonding strips of the material into an elliptical form having projecting tabs ll formed thereon for passing through the openings in the back and base. 'lhese tabs, after the saine have been passed through the openings are then clinched to tion. It will be noted that the base 2 serves will herev as a bottom for the paste holders. The clips 12 and 13 are formed by superimposing a shorter strip of resilient material 14 upon a longer strip 15 and soldering or otherwise securing the said strips together. The ends 16 and 17 of thestrips 15 and 14 are bent outwardly to form the brush retaining clips. The strip 15 is soldered or otherwise secured to the back 1 at such a distance from the base 2 that when the average toothbrush is placed in the clip the end of the handle thereof will enga e the base and the bristles of the brush wi l -be'A4 above the clip. This arrangement prevents the toothbrush from being carelessly placed in the clip holder in such a way that the bristles ot the brush will be cramped or mashed. The back 1 may be provided with openings 18 near the upper edge thereof through which means for fastening the device to a wall orv other place may be passed.
Having specifically described en embodiment of the invention, the'following claim is herewith appended, it being understood of course that theinvention is susceptible of various modifications and adaptations within the scope of the said claim.
lVhat I claim is:
An article container comprising a substantially rectangular sheet of material provided with openings and bent intermediate its endsl to form a back and a base at right angles to each other, a rectangular strip of sheet material bent into elliptrcal'form and having a tab lprojecting from the center of one edge thereof and a tab projecting from each end and adjacent the other edge thereot', said tabs passing through said openings .to lock said strip to said base and back and form an article container' having closed sides and bottom, the said base projecting all around said strip to form an article receiving shelf.
CARL FRANKLIN CRECELIUS.
