EFICE.
WILLIAM VANSITTABT LAING, 9F EASTW 001'), NEAR SYDNEY, NEV SOUTH WALES,
AUSTRALIA, ASSIGNOE TO FRANCIS HENRY MILLER, OF ROSEVILLE, NEAR SYD- NEY, AUSTRALIA.
SYMOKERS OUTFIT.
Application filed July 17, 1925, Serial No. 44,254, and in Australia July 17, 1924.
as will be hereinafter explained, tobacco,
matches and cigarette papers are housed so as to be easlly and quickly accessible.
In the draw1ngs:-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the outfit with the lid closed, and
Figure 2 is a perspective view with the lid open showing the internal arrangement. I
The outfit consists of two parts, the box 3 and lid 4:. The box 8 is so proportioned as to hold a standard box of matches in the space 5, the aperture 6 being designed to allow the tray 7 of the box to be projected,
as shown in Figure 1, for the extraction of matches which are then struck on the side of the box through the aperture 8, the tray 7 being propelled forward by inserting the finger and pushing through the hole 9. The tobacco is contained in the compartment 10 formed by the partition 11 which is attached to the box in any well known manner.
If required the partition 11 may be dispensed with in which case the tobacco is placed within the box in the packet in which it is supplied and extracted when necessary through a hole formed in the top thereof.
The lid 4 has a longitudinal slot 12 therein over which is secured the pocket 13 in which the packet of cigarette papers is placed, the individual papers being withdrawn through the slot 12. 1 40 The lid is attached to the box as shown in Figures 1 and 2 by the hinge pins i l and lugs 15 so that any stray tobacco will fall clear through the spaces 16 and will not jam be tween the lid and the box.
Further, a downwardly projecting knob or boss 18 is provided on the under side of the lid 4 so that when the lid is closed the match box will be forced into the bottom of its compartment thus ensuring that the tray 50 7 will always register with the aperture. 6.
It is not essential that the cigarette papers should be contained on the outside of the lid as shown. The packet 13 may be placed inside and in this case the slot 12 is formed in the pocket itself.
in order to facilitate the extraction of the empty match box, a hole 17 is provided in the bottom of the compartment 5 through which the box may be pushed upwards.
I claim i 1. A smokers outfit comprising a receptacle, having tobacco and match compartments, apertures in the match compartment, lid, means for hinging the lid to prevent amming, a downwardly projecting knob on the lid for forcing the match box into the" bottom of its compartment when the lid is closed and ensuring the tray registering with its corresponding aperture, a cigarette paper retaining pocket and a slot in the lid.
2. A smokers outfit comprising a receptacle, having tobacco and match compartments, apertures in the match compartment, a lid, cigarette paper retaining means for the lid, and a downwardly projecting knob on. the under side of the lid adjacent to the match compartment for forcing the match box into the bottom of its compartment when the lid is closed and ensuring the tray registering with its corresponding aperture. i smokers outfit comprising a receptacie and a lid therefor, said lid having a longitudinal slot and a paper holding pocket aver-lying the slot, a compartment within the receptacle to hold a standard match box, said compartment having an aperture at one end to allow the tray of the match box to be projected beyond the receptacle, an aperture in the opposite side of said compartment for the insertion of the finger to propel the match tray through the first-mentioned aperture and an aperture in one of the remainii sides of the compartment to permit of the extracted matches being struck on the side of the match box, and a second compartment within the receptacle for containing tobacco.
' In witness whereof I have signed this specification;
WILLIAM VANSITTART LAING.
