GARMENT.
Application filed December 13, 1924, Serial No. 755,732. "Renewecl Aug'ust 16, 1926.
This invention relates to improvements in garments and has particular reference toa childs garment wherein a blouse effect is obtained by the employment of a border of goods secured to the lower extremity of the waist portion of the garment, which waist portion has stitched connection with the pants portion, thus giving to the garment a two-piece effect, when in reality a one-piece blouse suit is presented.
Another object of this invention is to provide a simply constructed garment which includes a closed blouse in counter-distinction to the open blouse which gari'nent can be quickly adjusted on the wearer and readily removed without experiencing'the necessity of resorting to the use of' many annoying fastening elements.
A still further object of this invention is to produce a garmentof the character desc 'ibed which is simple in construction, eco nomical to manufacture, strong, durable and highly attractive in appearance.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
I11 the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed through the same Figure 1 is a front elevation of the garment constructed in accordance with my invention, and a s Figure 2 is a rear elevation of the same and disclosing'to advantage the means for fastening the parts one to the other, and further showing the manner in which the waist portion has stitched connection with the pants portion.
In the use of childrens garments, wherein a separate blouse and a separate pants are employed, great annoyance and inconvenience has been experienced due to the fact that the pants portion often becomes separated from the waist portion, thus exposing the waist-line and giving to the wearer an untidy appearance. Furthermore, the employment of a blouse which is open either in the front or back necessitates a buttoning or lacing action, for the purpose of closing the open front or open back of the blouse. To overcome this inconvenience, I have provided a garment with the closed blouse efiect, thereby eliminating the necessity of fastening elements in the blouse, which garment also embodies therein simplicity inconstruction and tends toovercome the disadvantages of a two-piece suit with its incident untidy appearancc,"as'before referred to;
In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 3 designates the waist portion of the garment, which is provided with the usual arms 4 and 5 and collar 6.
' To the bottom of the waist portionl propose to secure a border preferably of a dif ferent color than the color of the garment, which border comprises a front section 7.and a rear section 8, which are secured one to the other by fastening elements 9. This border has Stitched connection with the waist portion as at 10 and is the medium through which the garment receives the blouse effect when in reality no separate blouse exists, as will hereinafter be fully explained.
The numeral 11 designates the pants portion, which pants portion has the front thereof stitched to the front border 7 as at 12. Depending from the under side of the rear border 8 are a-plurality of tabs 13 which are equipped with two or more button holes 14 so as to receive therein the spaced buttons 15 provided on the rear of the pants portion 11. This feature renders the pants portion, to a certain degree, adjustable, to accommodate for the shortening or lengthening at the waist line of the wearer.
I propose to inwardly fold the end extremities of the rear pants portion adjacent the upper part thereof and provide thereon fastening elements 16 which are adapted to be received in the button holes 17.
To add to the attractiveness of the garment, I propose to employ end cuffs for the pants portion and end cuffs for the sleeve portion, which correspond in color to the border and collar and thus enhance the attractiveness of the garment.
In assembling the garment, it is only necessary to make the Waist portion and provide thereon the front and rear border. The front of the pants portion is then secured to the front border by stitching the two pieces and securing the same one to the other with the rear of the pants portion detached from the rear border. The wearer then puts his or her legs through the pants portion and slips the waist portion over his head and after the fastening connections have been made, as above described, the garment is ready for Wear.
From the foregoing description, it Will be readily apparent that I have perfected 'a novel' anctattractive garment construction which has all the appearances of'a two-piece blouse suit, but in reality is a one-piece suit.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes'in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of: the subjo'ined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a garment construction, a closed blouse portion provided With a rear border and a front border adapted to be detachably secured one to the other, a pants portion being slit adj acerit its upper extremity to provide a front portion and a rear flap, the front border having stitched connection with the pantsportion the flap having, a portion thereof adjustably and detachably secured to the blouse portion and detachably secured adjacent its ends to the front pants portion.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
PAUL G. lVRIGHT.
