BARREL-ROLLING DEVICE.
Application filed. July 27, 1925. SerialNo. 46,249.
This invention relates to improvements in tools for rolling cylindrical bodies, for example, barrels and drums. The invention will be fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying dra *ings, in which:
The figure is a vertical side elevation section of the preferred form of the rolling device constructed according to my invention and showing an end view of a barrel in position for rolling by the use of said device,
In the drawing reierence numeral 1 denotes a wheel or roller ot' largediameter turning on axle 2, the ends of which are held in prongs 3 affixed to handle 4;, to the other end of which is afiixed handle 5; On said axle 2 and alongside'wheel 1 and prong 3 member 6 is pivotally mounted on 2 and extends upwardly to support roller or wheel 7 of small diameter turning on axle 8. Notched bar 9 is pivotally mounted on and extends from axle 8 to handle shaft 4 to which is affixed pin 10 on which said notched bar 9 rests in position to be manually drawn backand forth or held in one of several positions by notches 111 said notched bar in con-.
tactv with pin 10.
In operation roller or wheel 1 rests on the floor, roller or wheel 7 rests against the outer perimeter of the cylindrical body 11 to be rolled.
cylindrical body to be rolled,
Thi invention may be employed in a tool having one handle at, one wheel 1 and one wheel 7; or it may be a tool having one handle 4:, two or more wheels 1 and two or more wheels 7 as may be most desirable according to the weight and size of the cylindrical bony to be rolled. Notched bar 9 may be used singly, or two or more such notched bars may be used. lVhen two wheels 1 are employed each will be mounted near one end oi elongated axle 2, and when two wheels 7 are used each will be mounted near one end of axle 8, thus requiring two or more members 6 to support axle 8 from axle 2. In case two or more wheels 7 are used notched bar 9 will be afiixed to the central portion of axle 8, or notched bar 9 may be made with two prongs each of which will fit over one end of axle 8. V
The operation of this invention will be clear from the foregoing description and the accompanying drawing.
As an addition to this invention there may Notched bar 9 permits adjustment of position oft wheel 7 according to size of j cylindrical body as shown by dotted line to stop retard the rolling of the cylindrical body and hold. it in position. i
for the purpose of illustration, ,ion has been particularly described in conne lion with cylindrical bodies such as barrels and drums, I contemplate applying it for the purpose of rolling or pushing other types of cylindrical bodies such as logs, cans, poles, etc. It will be understood that my invention is not limited to the precise details or embodiments thereof illustrated and described therein, nor to any feature thereof, and various modifications may e' made with the scope of the appended. claims in which it is my intention to claim all novelty inherent in the invention as broadly as the prior art permits.
I claim:
1. An apparatus for rolling cylindrical bodies comprising a revolvable wheel, an axle therefor, a handle shaft, extensions therefrom, bearings for said axle in the ends of said extensions, pivotal supports from said axle bearing a sccond'axle, a second revolvable wheel on said second axle, a pin in said handle shatt, notched bar pivotally mounted on said second axle and extending to said pin, the position of said second wheel being adjustable by means of said notched bar extending from said second axle to said pin.
2. An apparatus "for rolling cylindrical bodies comprising a revolvable wheel, an axle therefor, a handle shaft, prongs extending therefrom, bearings in'the ends of said handle prongs for said axle, supports pivotally mounted on said axle, a second axle pivotally mounted on said supports,-a second revolvable wheel mounted on said second.
axle, means for adjusting the position of said second revolvable wheel with relation to said handle shaft and first aforesaid revolvable wheel.
