Description
S. DPPENHEIMER.
Childrens carriages. No. 168,523'. I 'Patentedoct.5.1s75.
PATENT OFFICE.,
SOLOMON OPPENHEIMER, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHILDRENS CARRIAGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,523, dated October 5, 1875; application iiled October 27, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, SOLOMON OPPENHEI- MER, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ohildrens Carrie-ges; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a carriage constructed in accordance with my improved method, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same upon a line passing from front to rear.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each ofthe figures.
In the use of childrens carriages it is often desirable to carry extra garments, articles of food, &c., which, although not necessarily bulky, are a source of great inconvenience if carried in the hand or placed within the carriage. Io-remedy this difficulty is the design of my invention, which consists in a childs carriage, having formed upon or attached to its rear outer side a box or pannier, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter specified.v
In the annexed drawings, A represents the lbody of a childs carriage, which rests upon and is supported by means of two side rear wheels, B and B, and one forward center wheel, O, all in the usual manner. Attached to Or formed upon the rear outer side of` the body A is a box or pannier, D, Vwhich may have any desired shape or dimensions, may be constructed with'one or more compartments, and may have a top or a rear cover, or both, as deemed best.
The box D occupies no space that would be Otherwise available, and may be suflciently Ornamental to prevent it from detracting from the appearance of the carriage, While it affords a convenient receptacle for the storage of such articles as are useful or necessary.
Having thus fully set forth the nature and merits of my invention, what I claim as new 1s A childs carriage provided upon the rear, outside of its body A, with a box or pannier, D, substantially as and for the purpose speciied.
SOLOMON OPPENHEIMER.
