J. M. l. MARIN WEARING APPAREL Filed June 2, 1926 l l 61H0: nu,
Patented Sept. 18, 1928.
UNi'rfi) I ."OFFICB JOSEPH ivi. IIMARIN, or' JERSEY v'-.oIT-Y, lNew JERSEY.
,E This inventionrelatestoccrtain new and useful =improvemeiits 5 in. wea-ring apparel `and more particularly tonienstshiiits and has fon-its primary object to :provide a shirt with reinforced portions in proximity of the waistline'that are-provided with button holes to receive buttons on the inner side of the waist bands of trousers whereby the lower tail end of the shirt is effectively retained within the .trousers to present a neat appearance and prolong the cleanliness of the shirt by causing the same to lie` smoothly on the body and eliminate the unsightly appearance of bulges, wrinkles and the like.
A further object of the invention is to provide a shirt of the above type having button hole slots disposed adjacent the waist line and circumferentially spaced to be engaged by buttons on the waist bands of trousers, those portions of the shirt provided with the button hole slots being reinforced, either by strips sewed to the inner `ide of the shirt with tabs provided with button hole slots stitched to the other side of the shirt, or with button hole slots formed directly in the shirt body with a reinforcing patch of the same material stitched to the shirt body inwardly of the button hole slots without destioying the continuity of the design of the shirt inaterial, for supporting the trousers in psition without the necessity of providingr other supporting' means for the trousers, such as waist belts, Suspenders or the like.
lith the above and other objects in view that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists vof the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and then claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a fragmentary plan view of a portion of a shirt adjacent the waist line showing a button hole tab,
Figure 2 is a cross sectional view taken on line 6 6 of Fig. 1 showing the button hole slots formed directly in the shirt body with the latter reinforced by a patch displaying the saine design as the shirt material,
Figure 8 is a detail sectional view taken on line 7-7 of Fig. 1,

.showing- -ieinforcing strips extending v from the shoulder tov thel waistline of the shirt andwith .theibutton holev slots formed directly in theshirt body, a pairy of Atrousers illustrated by section being shown as but- Vtoned to the shirt, and
Figure is a detail sectional view showing a portion of a shirt and reinforcing tab stitched to the inner face thereof with button hole slots extending through both the i shirt and tab.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawings, there is illustrated a mans shirt of the usual type comprising side front sections and a rear section, the shirt being of coat type that is buttoiied lengthwise of the front sections. The present invention aiming to eliminate the necessity of wearingof a waist belt or Suspenders for supporting trousers provides reinforced port-ions adjacent the waist line of the shirt in which button hole slots are formed to receive buttons carried by the innerside of the waist band of trousers, the tail end of the shirt being effectively retained within the trousers and prevented from rising upwardly thereof and eliminating the unsightly appearance of a bulge or overhanging fold of the shirt above the trousers, it being possible to assume any posture desii-ed with the tail ofthe shirt still retained within the waist band of the trousers.
By the use of a shirt of this character, a snug lit over the shoulders and around the body of the wearer is assured and enables a longer period of cleanliness and the desiied tidiness.
As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the shirt fabric 8 having the design 9 on a part thereof is longitudinally slotted at 10 to form a tab l1 that is continuous with the shirt material. An inwardly positioned patch 12 displaying the saine design as the shirt fabric 8 is stitched as at 13 to the inner side of the shirt fabric inwardly of the tab 11. The
sin
tab 1l is provided with vertically spaced` vtrated in Figure l wherein the front and rear sides 15 and 16 of the shirt are'provided with reinforcing strips 3b while portions of the shirt sections 15 and 16 adjacent the waistline er@ Clreftly provided with butbelow the slots 17. It is to be understood that the reinforcing strips 3b displayV the same design as the shirt rearwardly of the slots 17.
.As shown in Figure 9, the shirt bod.)1 20 has a tab 21 stitched to the inner side thereof as at 22 with button hole Slots 23 extending through the shirt bod and tab. 7
From the above detaile description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation` thercof will at once be apparent, and while there are lherein shown and described the preferred embodiments of the invention, it is to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. i Y
What I claim as new is:
As new article of manufacture a shirt for mens weer comprising a bosom portion, a back and sleeves, the bosom portion formed with a luralit-y of pairs of longitudinal slits,n said3 slits forming intervening tabs continuous of and integral with the shirt, and with backing plies stitched to `the shirtbosom back of the slitted ortion, the said bosom portion being provided Vwith button holes between each pairy of slits, for the reception of the buttons on the Waist portions of trousers.
In testimony whereof I afix -my signature.
JOSEPH M. I. MARIN.
