A sleeve fitting l2 having' externally screw threaded portion passes through the waste outlet and extends belowthe bottom of the bowl 10, to which it is secured by the gasket 13 and the nut 14. To the open lower end of. the casing 17 is threaded or otherwise suitably secured a plug 20, to which is suitably connected the end 01 the trap 21.
A hollow tubular stopper 22 is telescopically mounted in the sleeve 12 and projects a short distance within the casing 17. The upper end of said stopper 22 being, formed with a conical head 23 adapted to be seated against a correspondingly conicalseat formed inthe end of the sleeve 12, so as to provide a Water tight joint when the stopper is in closed position. In order to permit passage of water from the bowl to the waste outlet, the stopper 22 is provided with a plurality of wall slots 24 adjacent the conical head 23. The stopper 22 is maintained in position and prevented from being removed from the sleeve 12 by means of a' longitudinal slot 25 which is engaged by a screw 26 threadedly secured to the casing 17. The lower end of the stopper 22 has formed about the outside thereof diametrically opposed interrupted grooves 27 having flat sides 28, as shown in Figs. 2 and 5, so as to pe m t the rea y rem val of the st pp r from the casing when it is rotated to bring the flat sides in line with the actuating fork, presently to be described.
The offset chamber 18 receives the inner end of a lifting fork 29, the arms 30 of said fork being provided with the inwardly eX- tending pins orrollers 31 adapted to loosely engage the interrupted grooves 27 in the stopper 22.
' With this construction, it will be seen that when it is desired to remove the stopper 22 from the bowl, the same is easily accomplished by withdrawing the screw 26 from the slot 25 and turning the stopper so as to have the flat sides 28 thereof in alignment with the pins 31, which will then permit the stopperto be easily lifted from the bowl.
A fork-supporting and operating pin 32 is transversely mounted in hearings formed in the walls of the offset portion of the chamber 18, said-pin preferably being formed with a squared enlargement 33 which is adapted to engage a corresl'iondingly squared opening 34 formed in the inner end of the lifting fork 29. A gland, formed by, packing 35 and nut 36, as shown in Fig. 2, is provided to prevent leakage past the pin, 32.
An operating yoke 37 is rotatably secured to one wall of the chamber 18 by the threaded pin 38 while its opposite arm is formed with an opening 39, having an open slot 39 to permit the entrance into the opening of the flattened end 40 of the pin 32 which is held by means of the set screw 41.. It will be seen that the slot 39 is slightly less in width than the diameter of the opening 39, so as to form a pocket 39 for receivii'ig' the circular portion of the flattened end of the pin, and thus prevent its escape therefrom when held by the set screw ll. The yoke 37 between its ends is provided with lugs l2 having apertures 43 which are adapted to be loosely engaged by an opcratmg member i l by means of the removable pin 45.
The operating member l i has a flattened section 46 and is engaged by a slidable member 4-7 which is adjustably secured thereto by the set screw 48. The upper end of the member 47 is formed with a screw threaded portion 4-8 to which is adjustably secured the lower end of the lifting rod 4-9, which.
rod may extend upwardly and have secured to 1t in any suitable manner, a hand knob or other operating part (not shown) By this novel construction, not only are tion and operation without departing, from the spirit of the invention and the scope of what is claimed;
We claim:
1. Th combination in afitting of the class described, of a tubular waste stopper, a stopper casing into which the lower end of said stopper projects, a stopper fork engaging opposite sides of said stopper and pivotally mounted in said casing, a yoke journaled to both sides of said casing, and means connected to said yoke and en aging said fork for actuating said stopper; said yoke, fork, and their operating means being arranged symmetrically with respect to one another so as to give a uniformly distributed lifting action. I
2. The combination. in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing having a laterally offset chamber, a tubular waste stopper in said casing, a stopperliftingfork pivotally mounted in said chamber and engaging opposite sides of said stopper, a yoke journalled to both sides of said chamber and means transversely disposed in said chamber to connect said yoke and said lifting fork; ing' means being arranged symmetrically with respect to one'another so as to give a uniformly distributed lifting action.
3. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing having a latera ly offset chamber, a tubular waste stopper in said casing, a stopper lifting fork engaging opposite sides of said stopper and projecting into said offset chamber, a transversely disposed pin pivotally mounted in said chamber and operatively'connected to said lifting fork, a yoke connected to said offset chamber and transverse pin, and manual means for operating said yoke, said yoke and fork and their enerating means being arranged symmetrically with respect to one another so as to give a uniformly distributed lifting action. a
4. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing having an offset chamben-a tubular waste stopper in said casing, a stopper lifting fork engaging opposite sides of said stopper and projecting into said offset chamber, a transversely disposed pin pivotally mounted in said chamber, a yoke embracing said chamher and operatively connected to said pin, an arm loosely connected at one end to said yoke, and a vertical lifting rod adjustably secured to said. arm; whereby a uniformlydistributed lifting action is imparted to the stopper when the lifting rod is actuated.
5. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing having an offset chamber, a tubular waste stopper in said casing, a stopper lifting fork engaging opposite sides of said stopper and projecting into said offset chamber, a transsaid yoke, fork, and their operat-.-
lifting action is imparted to the stopper when the lifting rod is actuated.
6. In a fitting of the class described, the combination of a stopper casing having an offset chamber, a stopper actuating fork pivotally mounted in said offset chamber and projecting into said casing, actuating means for said stopper fork mounted in said offset chamber, a yoke embracing said offset chamber and engaging the actuating means for said stopper fork, one arm of said yoke having an open slot therein, manual means for operating said yoke, means removably securing said actuating means to said yoke; said yoke, fork, and their operating means being arranged symmetrically with respect to one another so as to give a uniformly distributed lifting action.
7. In a fitting of the class described, the combination of a stopper casing having an offset chamber, a stopper actuating fork pivotally mounted in said offset chamber and projecting into said casing, a transversely disposed pin projecting into said chamber and operatively connected to said fork, a yoke embracing said offset chamber and engaging said pin, one arm of said yoke having an open slot therein and being removably secured to said transverse pin, and manually adjustable means for operating said yoke; said yoke, fork, and their operating means being arranged symmetrically with respect to one another so as to give a uniformly distributed lifting action to said stopper.
8. The-combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing, a waste stopper in said casing, a lever pivoted. to said casing and operatively connected to said stopper, an arm pivotedto said lever, a vertically disposed lifting rod, a link threaded on said lifting rod andslidably associated with said arm, and means for permitting the arm to be adjusted horizontally relative to said rod.
9. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing, a waste stopper mounted in said casing, stopper actuating means mounted in said casing, a
yoke journalled to opposite sides of said casing and operatively connected to said actuating means, and operating means loosely connected to the medial portion of said yoke. 1
10. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing, a waste stopper mounted therein, amember pivotally mounted in said casing and engaging opposite sides of said stopper, and actuating means for said member arranged symmetrically with respect thereto to give a uniformly distributed lifting action.
11. The combination in a fitting of the class described, a waste stopper casing, a
waste stopper mounted therein, a stopper fork pivotally mounted in said casing and engaging opposite sides of said stopper, a yoke journalled to opposite sides of said casing and operatively connected to said fork.
12. The combination in a fitting of the class described, of a waste stopper casing, a waste stopper mounted therein, stopper act-uating means pivotally mouned in said cas- I ing, a yoke journalled-to said casing, means connecting said yoke with said stopper actuating means, an arm of said yoke being slotted to receive part of said connecting means, and means for releasably securing said slotted arm to said connecting means.
13. A fitting comprising a Waste stopper casing having. a lateral chamber, a waste stopper mounted in said casing, a stopper fork engaging said stopper and pivotally mounted in said lateral chamber, and a yoke journalled to said chamber and operatively connected to said fork.
14. A fitting comprising a stopper casing, a waste stopper mounted therein, stopper actuating means having a non-circular opening, a yoke having one arm removably and pivotally connected to said casing, the other arm of said yoke being slotted, and a pin removably journalled in said casing and having a non-circular portion to fit the non-circular opening of the actuating means, and being adapted to be removably engaged with the slotted arm of said yoke.
