This invention relates to flags and has for an object to provide a flag having new and improved features of construction augmenting the wearing qualities of the flag as well as presenting features which prevent the flag from sagging in a calm.

A further object of the invention is to provide a flag, the present utility of which isbelieved to be as a golf marker while it is to be understood thatthe invention is not limited to that use but includes any flag wherein the corners are turned inwardly upon opposite sides of the flag so that at the fly end of the flag it is thickened by several laminated layers of the fabric.

flags are subjected to exceedingly hard wear and, therefore, must be replaced I often.

F lags ordinarily employed also fall down in a substantially straight line during a calm and do not perform their function of indicating the spot marked.

The present flag is intended to. overcome these difficulties in the maximum degree by providing the fly end of the flag with reinforcements, which reinforcements areformed from parts of the flag structure itself folded, which not only reduces wear to the minimum but also serves to hold the flag more or less extended during a calm and. therefore, in position to be seen.

Initially the flag is a substantially rectangular member, the sizeindicated by the dot and dash line 10. This is constructed preferably of two thicknesses of fabric, one upon each side, with the marginal edges turned inwardly and secured by rows of stitching 11. Also preferably the fabrics upon the opposite sides of the flag will be of different colors, although, of course, the different coloring does not enter into the mechanical invention involved herein.

The rectangular flag thus constructed has its fly corners folded, one upon one side and one'upon the other side of the body as indicated at 12 and 13. These infolded and overlapping corners will be stitched to the body by means ofrows of stitchings 1 1 which also constitutethe seaming of the edges of the infolded' corners, the continuations of the stitching 11. 7

The folds 15 produced bythe. infolded edges will also be maintained in close contact by means of stitches 16 whereby the flag at the fly end presents one terminal triangle 17 of merely the double thickness of the fabric, but two adjacent triangles 18 which are double the thickness of the two laminae with a quadrangle 19 presenting eight thicknesses of the fabric. 7

If, therefore, in the use of the device the external triangle 17 should wear and .disconnect itself from the balance of the flag or even the triangles 18 should wear through, there would still be a sufficient amount of the flag remaining to serve every purpose.

lVhile the means of attaching the flagto the stake forms no particular part of the present invention, it is shown as comprising a strip 20 folded over the end of the flag secured by stitching 21 and provided with eyelets 22 .or any approved means for attaching tothe stake, which may be acc0mpanied-by and co-act with a cord or cable 23.

What I claim to be new is:
