Description

A S. D. BAKER Filed July l, 1926 Cal Patented Dec. 6, 1927. p
UNITED STATES PATENT, OFFICE.
STEPHEN D. BAKER, 0F NEW YORK, N. Y.
CONTAINER FOR USED SAFETY-RAZOR BLADES.vv
Application led July 1, 1926. Serial No. 119,799.
My invention relates top containers for used safety razor blades, and is more particularly designed as a removable fixture for bathrooms.
It has for its object the provision of a suitable receptacle for used or discarded safety razor blades which may be quickly and removably mounted in an appropriate place. Another object is to construct the receptacle in such a way that it will make closecont-act with the wall to which it is attached, and while providing a secure and firmly placedsholder for such blades, is adapted to be removed and emptied with ease.
' It consists of a one-piece structure of a size fitting for the purpose for which itis designed and is entirely closed with the exception ofza slot in its top and an openingin its rear wall.
In the drawings accompanying this application, I show the preferred form of my invention.'
Figure 1 being a front perspective view of I my novel container;
Fig. 2 a rear perspective;
gig. 3 a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1; an
Fig. 4a section on the line 4 4 of Fig.` 3.
Referring to these drawings, inwhich similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts, 1 is the container. As shownjit is a small boxlike holder whose front, bottom and side walls are closed, and
r has a single compartment 2. The top of the container is'concavely curved, as at 3, which makes a convenient resting place for a cigarette, cigar or the like, and is furnished with a slot 4, through which the used or discarded blades are dropped into compartV ment 2.
The rear w'all 8 of the container, which is perfectly plane, is cut away to provide an elongated opening 5, and narrow or restricted openings 6, the openings 6 being extensions vertically of the opening 5. As illustrated, the opening 5 has curved extremities 5', and extends slightly beyond the -ver- 0 tical extensions 6 6 on each side for the purpose of facilitating the removal and replacement of the container.
Through the opening 5, the contained or used blades are shaken out 0r removed, and the vertical openings are utilized as seats Afor screws 7 7, or the like, on which the consuch diameter that they will not permit the direct outward removal of the container while it is resting on them, owing to the openings 6, 6 being narrower than the said heads, but necessitates the lifting of the container until the screws register with opening 5 to allow its withdrawal from the screws.
In order to enable my container to make close contact with the wall to which it is attached, I bevel the inside part of the rear wall adjacent the restricted openings or slots as indicated at 6', this wall being thinner at the open than at the closed end of the respective slots. This has the effect of allowing the holder to slide easily over the screws when being removed or replaced, but of wcdging it more tightly against the Wall when it is in operative position and forced down on the screws. In such position, as will be evident, its opening 5 will be closed by the wall against which it is placed, thus securing the efective retention of the blades until such time as the container is taken down for the purpose of removing its contents.
My improved container is made in one piece and is easily mounted in any desired ing, it cannot be readily displaced, and when positioned the one opening through which the blades can be removed i's closed by the.
wall against which it rests. It thus ail'ords a ready and stable holder for the deposit of used or discarded safety razor blades, can be emptied at will, and is capable of indefinite use.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. A container for used safety razor blades having a slot in its top for the insertion of blades, and a single opening with expanded and restricted portions in its rear wall, the expanded portion being for the removal of the blades and the restricted portions to receive means for attaching the container to a wall, substantially as described.
2. A container for used safety razor blades whose front, bottom and side walls are closed, its top wall having a slot to receive the blades, its rear wall being cut away to provide an opening which is ample in part to permit the removal of the blades and restricted in part for the reception of fusie ing means :1nd being bereilcd adjacent said restricted openings, Substantially :is described.
3. In combination :i box-like container for used safety razor blades, said container having :i slot 111 one of its walls for the insertion of blades, another one of its walls being provided With :u1 opening having expanded and restricted portions adapted to be closed by the wall to which the container is attached,
the expanded portions being for the removal of the blades and the restricted portions to receive fastening ineens, und headed festening means which will prevent the removal of the container from the Wall While said fastening means :1re in contact with said restricted portions, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my nzune to this specification.
STEPHEN I). BAKER.
