made to be The object of the invention 'is the provision of an improved folderin which means are provided placed within revented from worlgingupl of the forward portion of thus giving the file a inussy appearance and obscuring the filing legend carried by the back portion of the folder.
The principal feature of the invention is the provision of a iiap securedto the backV 15 portion of the folder, which is adapted to be folded down between the front and back portions of the folder and overlie the contents.
It is believed the understood vfrom a in connection with ings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view 0f one form of the device, and
Figure 2 is a similar View of'a modified form of folder.
Referring now to the drawings, indicates the front side or cover of the folder, and 11 the rear side. The folder between the parts 10 and 11 is scored or creased, as indicated at 12 and 13, to facilitate forming the folder with the bottom portion 14. When only a few papers are confined within the folder, the folder need be creased along only one of the scorings, as 13. The
upperedge of the rear side or portion 11 is provided with a filing tab 15 upon which may be written the usual filing legend. The filing tabs 15 may appear at any point along the upper edge of the i'ile to suit the requirements of the filing system employed.
Pasted, or otherwise secured,.to the rear side 11 of the folder is the edge 16 of the returned iiap 17. Between the edge portion 16 and the flap 17 is the right-angularly extending portion 18. Between the parts 16 and 17 and the intermediate part 18, the flap is invention will be readily description thereof taken the accompanying drawscored, as indicated at 19 and 20, to facilitateV Vhen only a cornforming Vthe part 18.
paratively crease 19. 1t will be seenl that when papers are placed within the folder, and the fiap 1s dawn so as te ove-rile the upper er1-ges This invention relates to improvementsin; folders, particularly of the` type which areV for so confining the papers the folder that 'they will be abovethe 'edge the folder, andJ few papers' are included inthefolder, the flap will be folded only along the 15,1923. l serial No'. 612,611. of the papers, that is, be positioned between *the outermost'one of the papers within the fold-er and the front .portion 10, the papers giving the file a inussy appearance or onscuring the filing legend at theupper edge of the folder.
The folder shown in Figure 2 is very similar t0 that shown in Figure 1, substantialyly the only difference between the two-being that the flange of the returned flap, which is pasted lor otherwise secured to the back of the folder, extends upwardly in Figure 2 instead of downwardly as in Figure 1. The folder of Figure 2 consists ofthe frontside 21 and the rear side 22, between which the folder is scored or creased, as indicated at 28 and 24, to facilitate forming the bottom 25 of the folder. Secured to the upper edge of the rear side 22 of the folder is the edge 26 of the returned fia-p 27. Between the Yedge 26 and the flap 27 is the right-angularly eX- tending portion`28 between which and the parts 26 and 27 are the creases 29 and 30 to facilitateforming the top portion 28 of the folder. The edge 26 of the returned flap, if desired, may be extended and secured to the upwardly projecting filing tab 31, the filing legend being inscribed upon the portion of the edge 26 forming part of the filing tab. In this form of the folder due to the edge 26 being carried up and secured to the upwardly projecting portion of the back 22, the filing tab is of increased rigidity.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is new and desire to secure by Letters VPatent of the United States is 1. A folder comprising a blank folded substantially centrally thereof to form a front and a back, and a iiap secured to said back adjacent the upper end of said back and projecting outwardly and downwardly forming a bight between said front and back for overlying the contents ofthe folder, a transverse portion of said back continuing upwardly beyond the bight of said flap and forming a tab.
24A folder comprising a blank adapted to be folded substantially centrally thereof to forni a front and a back, a separate flap arranged to project between said back so as to overlie thecontents of said. folder, said. flap having a strip' aio-11g* Awill be snugly confined within the folder v and will be prevented from working up and said front and f one edge glued to said back adjacent to the upper edge thereof.
3. A folder comprising a blank adapted to be folded substantially centrally thereof tol forma frontanda back, a-ta'bV projecting from the edge of sa'i'dback,` and a flap ar= ranged to project between said frontA and said back so as to overlie the contents of'the folder, Said flap havingf a. Strip along one edge `glued to said back adjacent to the upper-edgethereof and f'orined Withfa tab cor-- responding to the first-mentioned tab: andf secured theretor l 4i A folder comprising-a blanlradapted to. be folded substantially centrally thereof to: forni a front anda back, a` tab-projecting from the edge of said back, and a flapv formed of a separate strip off material' arranged. to projectv between@ said front' and back so as` to overlie the contents of the folder, said flap being firmly secured to said back adjacent to the upper edge. thereof and formed with a tab corresponding to the first- Inent'ioned tab and :securedv t'hereto.-`4
5. A folder 'comprisingablank v folded substantially centrally thereof to form a front and a back, and a flap secured to said back adjacent t-he upper end of said back and projecting outwardly and then down- Wardly between said. front and backfor overlyingl the contentev of the.- folder, said outward projection of said flap being spaced a distance below thenpper-niost edge of the back and theback thereaboV-e forming a-suppor-tfor carrying filing information.
