The lowerl end of the jack screw 15 is` provand a beveled gear 18 is rotatably mountedv collar 12 and the support 10, the jack screw 15 Vmay assume any `'position necessary. Becauseof this swinging movement, it is essential that the upper end of the jack screw 15 have a limited pivotal relation with ref spect to the skylight S.' i It will be understood that various changes in thedetails of construction may be madek without departing from the spirit orV scope` of the invention as dened bythe appended claims. y w
Iclaim:- f y 1.- A skylight adjuster lcomprising aj'supscrew slidable withiny said collar, abeveled pinion threaded on to said jack screwand normally restingy upon said collar, fa beveled gear rotatably mounted upon v.said collar and meshing with said pinion, a flange carried'by said beveled .gear and passing over said pinion, asprocket securedto said. beveled gear, a chain engaging lsaid sprocket `i adapted to produce rotation thereof, means for preventing disengagement of said chain from said sprocket, and means for pivotally securing said jack screw to a skylight.
2. A skylight adjuster comprising a bracket, a pair of spaced lugs provided upon said bracket, a collar having a projection' disposed between said lugs, a bolt passing through said lugs and projection` so as to pivot said collar to said bracket, a jack screw slidable within said collar, a beveled pinion threaded onto said jack screw, a spindle upon the collar, a beveled gear rotatable upon the spindle and meshing with said pinion, and means for rotating said beveled gear.
3. A skylight adjuster comprising a bracket, a pair of spaced lugs provided upon said bracket, a collar having a projection disposed between said lugs, a bolt passing through said lugs and projection so as to pivot said collar to said bracket, a jack screw slidable within said collar, a beveled pinion threadedy onto said jack screw, a spindle upon the collar, a beveled ygear rotatable upon the spindle and meshing with said pinion, and means including a sprocket and a chain for rotating said beveled gear, and means for preventing` disengagement between the sprocket and chain.
4. A skylight adjuster comprising a bracket, a pair of spaced lugs provided upon said bracket, a collar having a projection disposed between said lugs, a bolt passing through said lugs and projection so as to pivot said collar to said bracket, a jack screw slidable within said collar, a beveled pinion threaded onto said jack screw, a spindle upon the collar, a beveled gear rotatable upon the spindle and meshing with said pinion, means including a sprocket and a chain for rotating saidv beveled gear, and means for maintaining said beveled pinion adjacent said collar.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
