EMANUEL KRATOGHVIL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
SMOKING- PIPE.
Application filed October 11, 192%. Serial No. 743,004.
My invention relates to smoking pipes and its principal object is to provide a smoking pipe wherein the entire charge of tobacco will be burned and thereby result in the saving of tobacco which is ordinarily left unburned at the bottom of the pipe bowl.
The invention further provides a smoking pipe having a saliva bowl associated therewith which will retain any saliva which passes through the mouth stern and also drain any saliva that may pass into the pipe bowl.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a pipe which can be kept clean and in a sanitary condition at all times.
lVith the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, construction and arrangement of parts and operation to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the ac companying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a pipe constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein corresponding characters of reference denote the corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 designates a pipe bowl which is formed from a substantially spherical shaped body that is recessed in a horizontal direction to provide a bowl 6 which extends substantially parallel to the pipe stem 7 and which opens upon the inner side wall of the head. A month piece 8 is coupled to the stem 7 as shown.
A recess 9 is formed upon the underface of the bowl 5 and is provided with screw threads which receive a saliva cup 10, a duct 11 passing angularly through the pipe bowl and has its upper end communi eating with the latter at its forward end. The opposite end of the duct 11 passes downwardly through the bowl and extends to 'apoint overlying the saliva cup 10 and serves to conduct any liquid that may form in the bowl 6 into the saliva cup.
Extending longitudinally through the stem 7 is a saliva conducting tube or duct 12 the inner end of which overlies the saliva cup 10 and serves to conduct any saliva through the pipe stem and discharge the same into this cup. I
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that changes in the form, construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
What is claimed is:
A smoking pipe comprising a bowl, a stem extending from one side thereof and provided with a longitudinal bore, the bowl having a charge receiving opening which extends parallel to the bore and opens upon its rear face, the bowl being also provided with a threadedrecess in its under face and an obliquely disposed opening leading from the base of the charge receiving opening to the recess, a saliva cup threadedly received in the threaded recess, a saliva tube arranged in the bore and having one end extending into the saliva cup and a conduit passing through the obliquely disposed opening and having one end disposed in the cup.
In testimonywhereof I affix my signature.
EMANUEL KRATOCHVIL.
