COMBINED BRUSH AND COMB.
Application filed March 2, 1925. Serial No. 12,744.
This invention relates to a combined hair brush and comb, the-primary object of the invention being to provide a brush wherein the body portion is constructed in such a manner as to house the combs, when not in use.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for locking the combs against accidental displacement while in their active or inactive positions.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a construction of this character wherein the outer edges of the combs will form continuations of the side edges of the body portion when the combs are moved to their inactive positions within the handle of the body portion.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Figure 1 is a top plan view of acombined brush andcomb constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 3 is a plan view of the brush, the combs being in their inactive positions.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the body portion is indicated generally by the reference character 5 and. includes a handle section 6, which handle section is formed with grooves 7 disposed in its side edges, the grooves being of depths to completely house the teeth 8 of the pivoted combs 9.
The combs 9 are secured to the body portion by means of the pins 10 that extend through the combs, at points adjacent toone of the respective corners thereof, in a manner as clearly shown by Figure 1 of the drawing.
These grooves merge into relatively shallow grooves 11 which are of depths to accommodate the backs of the combs as shown by Figure 1. In the outer ends of the combs are depressions that accommodate the bosses 12 and 13 respectively, the bosses 12 acting to hold the combs within the grooves 7 ant 11 and prevent them from moving from their active positions while in use, and prevent them from moving to their inactive positions, when not in use.
One surface of the body portion is provided with bristles 14 which may be secured to the body portion in the usual and well known manner to the end that should it be desired to use the device as a brush, the combs will not interfere in any way with the use of the device.
Should it be desired to use the device as a comb, the combs may be moved from their positions within the handle section, to positions within the grooves 11 as shown by Figure 1.
I claim A combination toilet article comprising a brush having a recess in its handle to re ceive a comb and a recess in an edge of the back of the brush to receive the back of the comb, a comb pivoted between the aforesaid recesses for. swinging movement into the handle and into engagement with the recess in the back of the brush, and means carried by the brush to engage the comb in either the aforesaid positions.
