Patented Apr. 13, 1926.
UNITEDSTATES PATENT OFFICE.
PASTE-DISPENSING DEVICE.
Application filed October 10, 1924. Serial No. 742,892.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS M. Maurine LAND, a citizen of the United States; and a resident of Englewood, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey. have invented a new and Improved Paste-Dispensing Device, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.v
This invention relates to paste dispensing devices and has for an object to provide an improved construction which presents a convenient method of dispensing tooth paste, cream and the like without exposing any of the paste except that dispensed and at the same time permitting the dispensing of any desired quantity.
Another object of the invention is to provide a dispensing device for paste wherein renewable containers are provided and the paste dispensed directly therefrom In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a front view of a dispensing device disclosing an embodiment of the in- 'vention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through Figure 1, approximately on line 2-2.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view through Figure 2, approximately on line 3-3. I
Referring to the accompanying drawing b numerals, 1 indicates a container preferalzly of glass having a threaded upper end for receiving the threaded cap 2, which cap may be of metal or other desired material. The cap 2 is formed with an aperture 3 through which the rack 4 extends, said rack continually meshing with the small pinion 5 rigidly secured to the shaft 6, which shaft carries a thumb member 7 whereby 1t may be rotated as desired. Thegear wheel 5i is positioned in a housing 8 secured by solder or in any other desired manner to the cap 2, said housing bein perforated for-receiving At .t e lower end the container 1 fits into a supporting socket 9, which socket is provided with a reduced neck 10 conforming to the neck of the socket, said reduced neck 10 having a threaded sectionfor' receiving the closure cap 11 which is preferably of metal. The supporting socket 9 is prpvlded with a bracket 12 which may be integral therewith and also may tegral with the ring 13 and the face plate 14. The face plate 14 is provided with suitable' apertures' for recelving any desired number of retaining screws 15 wherebythe be in-.
same may be clamped rigidly to a wall. Arranged mterlorly of the container 1 is a renewable tube or paste holder 16 which conforms in shape tothe container 1 and is formed with v a neck 17 extending downwardly into the neck 18 of the container 1 whereby whenever cap 11 is removed the paste may be forced from the paste container or holder 16 without the same coming in contact with any of the other parts.
In order to eject or-dispense the paste from the holder 16, a piston 19 is connected with the lower end of the rack 4, said piston being of metal or other desired material and snugly engaging the sidewalls of the container or paste support l6. When the parts are 1n the position shown in Figure 2 and it is desired to secure a quantity of the V paste support '16 is removed and a new one substltuted.
In case theparts shduld be soiled before the new container or support 16 is supplied,
the container 1 may be removed by raising the same bodily out of socket 9 and ring 13. .After the parts have been properly cleaned,
they may-be re-assembled, a newpaste contame-r 16- sup-plied and the parts may be again in position for use. Thls construction and arrangement permits the paste which may be tooth powder, cream or other paste, to be maintained clean" and yet ready for dispensing at all times." i
What I claim is 1. A paste dispensing device, comprisinga bracket formed with an encircling ring and a socket spaced from said ring but positioned in line therewith, said socket having a reduced neck, said neck beingopen at the top and bottom, a paste container formed at the lower end to fit into said-socket and provided with a neck fitting into the first mentioned neck, said last mentioned neck being open. so as to dispense paste therethrough, a cap for said first mentioned neck for normally closing the same, andmea'ns eo-acting with said container for forcing paste through said neck when said cap is removed.
2. In a dispensing device for paste, means I for supporting and dispensing paste and a bracket for supporting said means, said bracket including a ring encircling said means at one point, a plate adapted to receive supporting screws, :1 downwardly extending bar, and a; socket carried by said bar in line with sa-idencirclingring, said socket being positioned to receive the lower end of said paste su portin means.
