Be it known that l, Moxnon A. Covnn, citizen of the United States. residing: at (lkmulgee. in the county of Ukmulgee and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful lmi'n'oi'ements in Pens, of

which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to stationery and more particularly to an improved writing pen.

An important object oi the invention is to provide a device oi the above character whereby a pen may be firmly and securely retained in association with a holder.- A further object of the invention is the provision of a pen holder whereby the pen may be quickly and readily detached from the holder.

Astill further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character whereby the pen will be securely retained upon a holder against lateral movement.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a pen holder of this character which is extremely simple, durable and can be placed upon the market at. a relatively low cost.

Other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent as the descrip- 39 tion progresses.

In the drawing, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 generally designates the holder or staii of my improved writing pen somewhat enlarged in the central portion and hpering' toward the extremity. One extremity is provided. with a comparatively large-s ant spherical extension 6 while the other end is preferably tapered to a point as at 7.

A pen point generally indicated by the numeral 8 is adapted to connect witi the holder 5 and comprises a common form of v shaped writing pen 9 and a sleeve 10.

It can be readily noted from the construction of the sleeve member that same is expansible and normally smaller in diameter than the end of the holder.

When mounting the pen point upon the holder the sleeve 10 engages the end ofthe holder and is forced substantially thereon.

The sleeve is then securely looked upon the holder by the provision of a continuous band 1'2 forcibly inserted over the sleeve 10 after the same has been placed tightly in engagement with the holder. p

The retaining band. 12 is then slid over the pen point and tightly engages with the expanded portion ofthe sleeve and holder preventing movement oi the 1pen point. When it is desirable to change t e point or for any other reason remove the samefromthe holder any implement can be used to force the retaining oand from the pen-point and in the same manner the sleeve from the holder, and the user need not touch the point with the fingers.
