TELEPHONE-pianoforti? STAND.
i v ffii T0 all whom it may concern. under the panel.
Be it knownthat I, MILToN'I-IENRY MAN@ n of San Francisco, county of San Franciso` State of California, have invented a new and useful 'lelephone-Directory Stand, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to telephone stands and directories and has for its primary 0bject the provision of novel means: for displaying the names and telephone numbers of telephone 'subscribers so that convenient reference can be had thereto when their use is desired. Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character havin a transparent table top and meansfor holding an indicia bearing sheet with respect thereto so that Written information contained thereon will be preserved against accidental obliteration incident to constant usage .ofthe telephone, and wherein means are employed to support the telephone instrument -to a point at one side of said indicia' bearing sheet.
Another object of the invention is to prol vide a novel device of this character'which will function as aforesaid and consist of an arrangement of parts which combine to Figure 1,
thereof,
Figure 3 is a transverse section through the device showing a slightly modified form Figure 4 ,is a perspective View ofthe form of board or slide employed in Figure 2, and Figure 5 is a section through a further modified form of slide or board.
vIn carrying the invention into practice, use is made of the legs 5 to support a frame 7 in Which'a transparent top or glass panel 6 is mounted. This Apanel is set in the frame 7 so that it lies flush with the'upper surface thereof as shown in Figures 1 and 2. Beneath the panel and secured in any -obliterated or concealed Application med september 2g, `19M. semina. 739,634.
Two of these guideways, indicated by 9, are disposed one alongside the other and below a third, indicated by 9. A board.v l() is slidable in guideWay 9 and through a -l'ecess 1 -in one end offrame 7.
The 'board provides a support for a card means of thumbl tacks or the like. When the board 10 is in the position shown inl Figures 1 and 2, the sheet 11 is disposed directly beneath the' transparent panel 6 Where the subscribers names and telephone numbers Will l-be clearly discernible through said panel. The board is provided With a finger engaging fiange 12 which may be conveniently manipulated when adjusting the boardbeneath said panel. This flange lies flush with the outer surface ofthe frame when the board is positioned as shown in Figures 1 and 2.
In opposite sides of frame 7 are recesses 3 which communicate with the guideways 9,-9
which receive the slides 13-13. A telephone instrument A can be mounted on either one of these slides where it will be disposed at one side of said panel in. order that the directory'surface .of the sheet 11 'will not be in any Way when the phone is used.
Under the frame 7 and secured to the legs ofthe table is a`shelf 14 on which the telesuitable Well known manner to the frame 7 having parallel slots 16-16 in which rollers 17-17are journaled. Associated with this board and passing over the respective rollers is an endless indicia bearing sheet 18. In this form, naines of telephone subscribers c n be arranged throughout the sheet and tl e latter turned or adjusted .with respect to the panel 6 so that a selected-portion of the sheet can be brought to View when its use is desired. One half vof this sheet may be decorated or. ornamented in any suitable well known manner and normally arranged under the panel 6 in order to appeal to the aesthetic and contribute to the attractiveness of the device as an article of furniture. This is particularly vappropriate vwhen the device When the device is use in oiices or for com" is used in residences, a artments or the like.
mercial purposes, it is desired that thisv feature be omitted in order that a large number of telephone subscribers names and numbers can be arranged in a minimum field.
In Figure 5, I show aboard 19 having sheets 20-20 secured to its respective sides. The front end-of the board is provided with a manipulating flange 21. In this form, the board is freely reversible so that either one of its sides can be arranged under the glass panel to be visualized therethrough.
I claim:
