sEEsAw. y,
Application led April 21, 1925. Serial No, 24,727.
To all whom, t may concern Be it known that I, ARCANGELO NATALE, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at Amsterdam, in the county of Montgomery and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seesaws, of which the following is a specification. i
This invention relates to improvements in amusement devices for children, particularly to see-saws and itis the principal object of my invention to provide a see-saw equipped adjustment of the compensating means.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a seeesaw having elastic supports to both sides of a centrally located segmental main support.
These andv further objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully apparent as the description proceeds, and will then be more specifically defined in the appended claim. y
In the accompanying drawing forrnmg a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a see-saw constructed according to the present invention.
-Fig 2 is a top plan view thereof. F Fig. 3 is a cross-section on line 3-3 of Fig. 4 is an end elevation of the see-saw.
The see-saw comprises a base or supporting platform 10 on end blocks 11, in the middle of which standards 12, are supported carrying at their upper ends bearings 13 for a transverse shaft 14 having brackets 15'attached thereto, which are secured to the lower face of the see-saw board 16, proper, having upright end llanges 17 and 18, adapted to limit the backward movement of seats 19 and 20 adapted to be moved along the and 31, respectively, attached to the outer sidewalls of the seats 19 and 20, and carry at their upper ends the operating knobs 32 land 33 respectively.V l
Springs 34 yand 35 are wound about the pins 26 and 27 respectively, between the upper guides 28 and 30 and collars 36 and 37 respectively, on rods 26 and 27.
To both sides of the centerv of gravity represented by parts A12, pinsl 38 and 39 are attached to the lower :face of board 16, and the upper ends of strong spiral springs 40 and 41 are coiled about said pins, the lower ends of which work in depressions or seats 42 and 43 formed at the upper ends of cylindrical elements 44 and 45 having foot flanges byv means of which they are secured on .the base 10.
The brackets 15 carry de aending segmentally shaped shoes 46 and 4 grooved at the lower edge and their grooves are engaged by suitable rollers 48 and 49, connected by a shaft 50.
The operation of my device will be readily understood from the above description; if the see-saw is to be used by two children of a pronounced difference in their weights, the seats can be adjusted by the proper operating of the pins 26 and 27 farther away from or closer to the central point oi" supportV of board 16 in order to ensure at all times the desired equilibrium of the see-saw. It is to ters Patent, is: v
In a see-saw comprising a base, standards on said base,'a shaft journaled in said standards, a board, brackets securedto said board, a pair of segmental members attached to said be understood that the drawing showsone of e brackets, groo-ved at their lower` faces, rollers engaging said grooves, means for cushioning knobs on said pins for operating said pins to lock said seats in their adjusted positions 10 farther from or closer to they oenter ofgravity of said board to allow the simultaneous use of 'said see-saw by children yoJf Varying Weights.
In testimony vwhereot I have aHiXed my signature; r
ARCANGELO NATALE.
