Description

F. 4 MAHN June 9, 1925. v
GLOVE Filed Dec. 8, 1923 wix. 4 2 0, 01 Wm 7 'lfarnsy Patented June 9, 1925.
UNITED STATES FRITZ IVIAHN, OF OBERFROHNAU, GERMANY;
GLOVE Application filed December 8, 1923. Serial No. 679,478.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRITZ. MAHN, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Ober- III frohnau, Saxony, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gloves, of which the following is a specification.
Gloves are sometimes provided with reinforcing bands carried from the closing members toward the finger portions at the back of the glove, the object of this arrangement being to resolve the transverse'pull of the closing members into oblique components which tend to maintain the glove taut whether the hand be open or closed.
This invention consists in the combination with a glove of this kind of closing members in the form of buckles and straps which latter are arranged so as to overlap the reinforcing bands and allow of being firmly secured thereto.
The employment of a closure in theform of buckle and straps, has the advantage that the glove can always be firmly closed round the wrist whether the latter be large or small and whether the materials are liable to stretch or not, and as the reinforcing bands are firmly secured to the straps, a proper functioning of the same. will be en sured right through the life of the glove.
To enable the closing members to adjust themselves readily to the direction of the pull so as to prevent subsequent creeping and slackening of the reinforcing bands,
part of the straps or of the buckle is made sufficiently narrow to render the closure pliable in all directions. 7 Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings represents a front view of the glove according to one construction, and
Fig. 2, a back view of the same. Figs. 3 and 4 are front views of different modifications.
The glove is tightened to the wrist in known manner by means of a buckle a and by means of straps connected to the glove at opposite sides of the slit, the arrangement being such that the strap I), after having been pulled through the buckle, will be clamped thereby in tightened condition. To enable the closure to adjust itself readily to the direction of the pull, part of the straps or of the buckle is narrowed so as to be pliable in all directions. In the construction shown in Fig. l, the buckle a is for this purpose connected to its strap by means of a. ring d and by means of a hook c which engages the ring loosely so that universal movement can take place. The hook c is positioned by means ofan eyelet e.
A modified arrangement is shown in Fig. 3 where the buckle a is formed with a triangular loop whereby it is held in a loop 76 formed by a narrow portion of the strap.
A further modification is shown in Fig. 4 according to which both straps are narrowed 4 down towards the buckle a which is also made narrow and elongated.
Reinforcing bands f and a of suitable fab= ric are secured to the inside of the glove and carried helically upwards from the buckle straps toward the finger portions at the' back of the glove. The lower ends of the bands overlap the fastened ends 9 of the straps and are thus intimately connected with the latter. Being thus interconnected, the straps and the bands can always be etfeclively tightened, and the back portion of the glove will be prevented by the bands from rucking up, even after long wear and repeated washing of the glove.
The bands f and i are preferably extended, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4:, so as to meet across the beads it which are carried down the back of the glove from between the finger portions. The'pull of the bands will then be transmitted by the beads to the finger portions so that the latter can be straightened out by a mere pull on the wrist portion, and maintained by the bands in taut condition after the tightening of the closure.
I claim: I i
1. In gloves, the combination with astrapand-buckle closure, of reinforcing bands which overlap the fastened ends of the straps so as to be interconnected therewith, said reinforcing bands being carried helically upwards from the straps towards the finger portions at the back of the glove.
2. In gloves having beads extending downwards from between the finger portions at the back of the glove, the combination with a strap-and-buckle' closure, of reinforcing bands which overlap the fastened ends of the straps so as to be interconnected therewith, said reinforcing bands being carried helically upwards from the straps so as to meet across said beads, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. Y
3. In gloves, the combination with a strapand-buckle closure having a narrow connecting point about which it is adjustable in In testimony whereof I afiix my signature all directions, of l'einforolng bands which in presence of two Witnesses.
overla the fastened ends of the straps so as to tie interconnected therewith, said rein- FRITZ MAHN' forcing bands being carried helioally up- Witnesses: Wards from the straps towards the finger' WM. VVENKE, portions at the back of the glove. o, 7 Jon. TAUCHER.
