T'IE STEPHEN C. PRICE, OF LOUISIANA, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR T'O FRANK W. BUFFUM, OF
LOUISIANA, MISSOURI.
POURING DEVICE FOR BOTTLES AND THE LIKE.
Application filed. October 17, 1921. Serial No. 508,213. I
My invention relates to improvements in pouring devices for bottles and the like and has for its primary object the constructlon of a device which may be readily applied to and removed from a bottle neck and facilitates the discharge of the contents from the bottle.
In the drawings I Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a bottle showing my improvement applied thereto; and
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the bottle and a fragmental section of my devlce.
Referring to the drawings,
3 indicates a bottle of any desired construction and 4 the bottle neck.
My device consists essentially of a discharge spout 5, which may be constructed of any material and made either rigid or 30 flexible, as desired. Secured to the dis charge spout 5 is a housing 6 which is adapted to be inserted over the top of the bottle neck as illustrated in Figs. land 2. The housing 6 is provided with an in tegral shoulder 7, which is adapted to rest or be seated on the top edge of the bottle neck, as illustrated in Fig. 2. Secured to the housing 6 is a series of spring clamps 8, each of which is provided with an internal groove 9 in which the rib 10 is seated when the device has been applied to the bottle neck. Mounted in the housing 6 is a vent pipe or tube 11, the upper end 12 of which projects beyond the housing. The purpose of this vent pipe is to admit air into the bottles or container to facilitate the discharge of its contents.
Telescopically mounted on the vent pipe 12 is a pipe 13, thelower end of which is slotted as at 14. By means of the pipe 13 the vent pipe may be adjusted for different depths or sizes of bottles.
My device may be applied to various sizes of bottles and may be arranged to be applied in the bottle neck in place of over it, as illustrated. It is'highly useful for the discharge of lubricants and other heavy oils or liquids, and of course may be used to dis-'' charge any liquid from the vessel.
Havin fully described my invention, what I c aim is:
1. A pouring device for bottles and the like comprising a discharge spout, a housing secured to one end thereof and adapted to be seated over the discharge end of a container, a vent pipe carried by the housing and having one end extending beyond the exterior surface thereof, andits other end adapted to be laced within the container.
2. pouring device for bottlesand the I like, comprising a flexible discharge spout ahousing secure to one end thereof and adapted to be seated over the discharge end of a container, a vent pipe carried by the housing and'having one end extending beyond the exterior surface thereof, and its other end adapted to be placed within the container.
3. A pouring device for bottles and the like, comprising a flexible discharge spout, a housing secured to one end thereof and adapted to be seated over the discharge end of a container, an adjustable vent pipe carried by the housing and having one end extending beyond the exterior surface thereof, and its other end adapted to be placed within the container. i
4. A pouring device for bottles and the like, comprising a discharge spout, a housing secured thereto, spring arms secured to the housing, said housing and arms adapted to embracea bottle neck, and a vent pipe carried by said housing.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
' STEPHEN C. PRICE.
