IMPROVEMENT IN MlLKlNG-STOLS.

Speciication forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,247, dated August 26, 1873; application filed November 9, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE rl. LINCOLN, of Leominster, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Milking-Fail Supporter; and I do hereby declare the following to be a correct descrip tion ofthe same,reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved pail supporter combined with a milking-stool.

My invention consists in an adjustable device for holding a milking-pail at any desired height, and in any desired convenient position, said device being either attached to a stool of special construction prepared to receive it, or to any ordinary form of stool used for that purpose.

marks the top of a stool of special 'construction, to which my devices are to be attached. B is the seat for the milker, and D D the legs which support the top C. To one end of the stool` is attached the eye or sleeve I, which receives the rod A, which is bent, at its lower extremity, at right angles to its length, so as to form a foot, as shown, for the purpose of preventing the Weight of the pail from overturning the stool when no person is sitting upon it. On rod A two brackets, E F, slide vertically and turn horizontally, the two being connected together by the rod L, to which the lower bracket E is attached, by means of a set-screw, at any desired distance from the upper bracket F, so as to adapt the device for the reception of a pail of any ordinary size. The upper bracket F is provided with hooks, upon which the bail of the pail is hung, and the lower bracket E with a curved angle-iron or ledge to receive and support the lower edge of the pail, as clearly shown in Fig. l. n

It is obvious, from the construction, that the pail can be raised or lowered, as desired, on

lthe rod A; and that the brackets can be adjusted, relatively to each other, so as to receive a pail of any usual size. It is also apparent that the pail can be swung laterally in either direction as far asmay be deemed necessary.

What I claim is-V In combination with a milking-stool, a milk- 'ing-pail holder, consisting of the rod A, having a projecting foot, as shown, and provided with the sliding and swinging brackets E and F, adjustable, either separately or together, in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
