The device includes means for quickly attaching or detachingold razor blades of standard types to a handle, for using eitheredge of the blade on the work.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a plan of the device. Fig. 2 is a` section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig.. 3 is a section on the line 3'-3'of Fig. 1
The handle consists of a metal' plate 6 tf opposite sides of which pieces of wood 7 are riveted as indicated at 8, forming a handle which can conveniently be grasped h v the hand. At the front end the plate 6 is reduced in thickness, as indicated at 9 and is also widened or expanded laterally so as to form a bed plate on which the blade l() is clamped. The bed plate or part 9 has on the upper side thereof a pair of lugs 11 which are v'of proper size and position to h't through the holes in the blade 10 of a well known type, and the 'blade is clamped against the to of the plate 9 by means of a plate 12, whic 1 also has holes through which the studs 11 extend, and is fastened by the thumb nut 13 on a threaded stud 16 which projects from the plate 9 through a central hole in the blade and top plate 12. rlhe blade 10 is very firmly held by the clamp de- Y scribed and is given the requisite stiffness by the contact with the plates 9 and 12 therewith. The blade 10 may be reversed to expose the other edge by removing the thumb nut and top'plate 12 and replacing the blade with the ot-her'edge in outer position. lt is also to be noted that the edges of the plate 9 at the ends thereof are bent up as indicated at 17 forming flanges between which the blade 10 and the top plate 12 fit, the'Y ends of the plate 12 being shaped to accord wlth these flanges and fit closely against the same, whereby the top plate is prevented from turning or shifting its position and all parts arel held firmly together by the single thumb nut.
l claim: l
A scraper comprising a handle including a metal plate extending and expanded lateri ally beyond the front end of the handle and in a plane parallel thereto, the ends of said expanded part of the plate being'anged to form a' seat, said seat having projecting spaced lugs, a blade resting on said seat and having holes into which the lugs project, and a cap plate clamped upon the blade and engaged by said lugs and fittingbetween said flanges.
In testimony whereof, I do affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
