Description

- R K.ELSALL;. WORKBOX FOR DOMESTIC USE.
APPLICATION FILED DEC-2h 1920.
Patented Feb. 28, 1922.
UNITED STATES RACHEL KELSALL, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
woItKBoX son nor rescue use.
Application filed December 21, 1920.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, RAonnL KnLsALL, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Messrs. Cox & Co, J Department, 16 Char-lug Cross, London, S. XV. 1, in the county of London, in. England, have invented a new and useful Improvement in VVorkboxes for Domestic Use, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to work boxes for containing tapes, silks, cottons, buttons, pins, and the like, for general domestic use.
My invention. consists of improvements, such as construction of feet beneath the plat form formed by a continuation of the sides of the chest of drawers each foot having two horizontal slots cut therein. Transverse slots are made in the platform in order to receive the feet and the end of the vertical board. N ear the end of this said board are cut two horizontal slots corresponding with the slots provided in the feet above described. The object of the slots in the vertical board and feet is to receive two strips or laths for keying rigidly together the feet, and the vertical board and the work box platform. The feet above described are an extension of the sides of the chest of drawers and are fixed to the underside of the platform by means of angle plates secured by rivets. The body cover may be transposed into a basket for holding needle work by means of the cover or top being made removable so that it can be removed and inserted in the bottom of the body cover, the said body having two loosely pivoted handles.
In the accompanying drawings, Fig. l, is a front elevation of the chest of the drawers; Fig. 2, is a side elevation of Fig. 1; Fig. 8, is a plan of the bottom of the platform; Fig. 4-, is a plan of the top of Fig. 1; Fig. 5, is an elevation of the body cover with loosely pivoted handles, and Fig. (5, is a sectional elevation of the body cover having the removable top or cover inserted in its base in order to be used as a basket for holding needle work.
My invention consists of such improvements that are used in conjunction with my former invention claimed and described in my specification, Serial No. 319,022, dated August 2nd, 1919..
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 28, 1922.
Serial No. 432,293.
In Fig. 41-, is shown the division (4 in which the movable board 1 with spikes is inserted, the said board resting against the solid back Z) of the chest of drawers. Adjoining the bottom end of the movable board 1, I out two slots 0 in order to be keyed to the platform (Z by means of longitudinal strips or laths c as shown in Figs. 1, and 8.
In Figs. 1, 2, and 3, is shown the platform (Z mounted on feet 9 formed by the extension of the sides 2, and 3, passing through slots 4, and 5, cut in the platform (Z, the said feet 9 being fixed to the platform (3 by means of angle plates 7 rivet-ted together. These said feet 9 are provided with two slots 71. in each in order to receive the strips or laths e for keying up the bottom end of the feet 9 and the movable vertical board 1 when it is passed through the transverse slot 2' cut centrally in the platform (Z thus fixing the feet g and board 1 rigidly to the platform (Z.
In another modification the body cover 2' is transposed into a basket as shown in Fig. 6, by means of the removable top or cover 7' being inserted rigidly but reniovably into the bottom of the body cover i the said body cover 2' having two loosely pivoted handles 70. This aforesaid basket is intended to hold or contain any needle work or the like.
I claim: 1. A work box provided with a chest of drawers and a plat-form, the platform having a middle slot and end slots; feet on the chest of drawers, said feet passing through the end slots of the platform and being them selves provided with transverse slots below the platform; a board extending vertically through the middle slot of the platform and having transverse slots thcrethrough below the platform and strips passed through the slots in the feet and the vertical board.
2. A work box provided with feet, a platform fixed to the underside of the box-by means of angle plates, and a vertically arranged board having slots in the lower end thereof; the feet having transverse slots corresponding to the slots in the board and strips inserted through the slots in feet and board.
