Description

F. GUNCHICK. COMBINED CARD CONTAINER AND TABLE. APPLICATION FILED SEPT. Is. 1918.

INVENTOR in) Ana/m FRANK GUNCI-IICK,
0F BLANCHARD,
IDAHO.
CU'MBINED CARD-CQNTfiENER AND TABLE.
Application filed September 16, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK GUNOHICK, a citizen of Poland, residing at Blanchard, county of Bonner, and State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Card-Containers and Tables, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in articles of furniture and particularly to tables, having as its special object the provision of a table which may be compactly folded.
A further object to provide means whereby the table, when in a folded position is securely held together to present the appearance of a conventional type of suit case, and which may be as readily transported.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of the disclosure, and in which Figure l is a perspective view showing a table made in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a similar perspective view showing the same when in a folded position.
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View taken on line 33 of Fig. 2, and
Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line i-l-. of Fig. 3.
Referring to the drawings, the table top is indicated by the nu: eral 10, over which may be displayed a covering of textile fabric or leather the same forming a border 12, around the sides and end. This table top or cover, is rigidly secured with the sides 1%, and the ends 15, which may be likewise covered with thin flexible material 16, assuming the appearance of an ordinary suit case. Interiorly projecting, longitudinal partitions 18 are formed at the lower portions of the sides, the same being joined by curved integral elements 19, and formed between the partitions and the outer walls, are

recesses or pockets 20. Extending between the partitions 18 from side to side, is a bottom wall 22 and pivotally engaged i the recesses or pockets 20, are the upper end of the legs or standards 24, held by the pins 25 and so arranged as to fold longitudinally within the recesses at any desired time.
Attached to the bottom plate 22 is a covering 26, the same having extended loose ends 27, formed with eyes 28., the eyes or sockets being engageable with fixed pins 29, set in the side elements 15, so that when the legs folded into the pockets, the cover ends 27, may be folded thereover and engaged holding the entire structure firmly together.
A handle 30 is secured to one of the sides of the casing 14E, by clips 31, so that when folded and the ends of the flexible cover engaged with the pins 39, as to present all of the usual appearances of an ordinary leather suit case.
Having thus described my invention and set forth in the construct-ion and manner of operating what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a suit case of the character described, interiorlongitudinal partitions formed at the lower portions of the sides, curved integral elements joining said partitions, the walls of said suit case and said partitions forming pockets, legs pivotally secured to the side walls of this case diminishing in width from their pivot point to their ends and adapted to be folded into said pocket, side by side, with their wider portions r s ing against the smaller ones, a covering having loose ends attached to the bottom of said case, and eyes on said loose ends adapted to be engaged by pins in said side walls, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
in testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature.
FRANK GUNCHIOK.
