Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section view of a valve casing constructed in accordance with my invention, the valve and certain parts associated therewith being shown in elevation.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 5 designates an automobile of conventional construction, including the usual dash board 6, engine 7, intake manifold 8 and carburetor 9.
In accordance with my invention. as herein illustrated. a valve casing 10. containing e butterfly-valve 11, is inserted in the intake manifold 8 to control the passage of "fuel from the carburetor 9 to the engine 7. The valve spindle 12 is fitted at one end in a. bearing opening or recess 13 provided in the casing and is provided at the opposite end with a cross slot I l receiving therein e cross key or rib 15 formed on one end of a flexible actuating shaft 16. As shown, the keyed end of the shaft 16 extends into an offset chamber 10' formed integral with the casing 10 end is enlarged to form e shoulder 17. As shown to advantage in 1, the flexible shaft 16 extends from the casing 10 or valve spindle 12 to a casing 19, csrried by the cash board 6, and containing a suitable key-controlled locking mechanism connected with and controlling the actuation of said shaft. in the use of the device, it will be apperent that movement of the flexible shaft 16 to valve closing or opening positions is eilected by inserting at key in the casing 19 and turning it in the proper direction. When the key is tur cd to move the spindle to valve closing position the locking mechanism within the casingli) acts automatically to secure the shaft in such position so that when the key is removed. unauthorized use of the engine willbe prevented owing to the fact that no fuel can be fed from the carburetor to the intake valves.
For convenience, I prefer to locate the locking mechanism controlling the actuation of the velve spindle 19;, on the dash board 6, but it will be understood that this is not absolutely essential as the flexible shaft 16 may be eliminated end the locking mechanism so sirable, providing, of course, that the same come within the scope of the appended claims and that they do not depart from the spirit of the invention.
VVhatI claim as my invention is: V
1. A device of the class described comprising a valve casing provided with an offset chamber communicating therewith, a valve in the casing, a guide block in the said chamber, a flexible sh aft extending from the valve outwardly through the guide block, and means for actuating said shaft.
2. A device of the class described comprising a valve casin provided with an 05- set chamber communicating therewith, a valve in the casing, a guide block in the said chamber, a flexible shaft extending from the ee s-1o valve outwardly through the guide block, and a locking mechanism controlling the actuation of said shaft.
3. A device of the character described comprising a valve casing, a butterfly-valve therein including a spindle, one end of the spindle being journaled in the wall of the casing and the other end being provided with a cross slot, a flexible shaft having one end extended into the casing and provided with a cross key fitting into said slot to es tablish a drive connection between the spindle and shaft, the keyed end of the shaft being enlarged to afford a shoulder and a guide block confined between said shoulder and an opposing wall portion of the casing and affording a bearing for the shaft.
4. A device as recited in claim l including locking mechanism connected with and controlling the actuation of the said shaft.
