Description

G. AYMABD..
Tobacco-Pipes.
y N0 148162, Patented March3.1874.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GUILLAUME AYMARI), OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO IVILLIAM DEMUTH 85 CO.
IMPROVEMENT |N 'roBAcco-PIPES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1118.162, dated March 3, 1874 application filed i September 4, 1873.
To all whom t may concer/L:
Be it known that I, GUILLAUME Amman, of' the city, county, and State ot' New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tobacco-Pipes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing' forming` part of this specification, in which drawing-- Figure l represents a side View of a tobaccopipe, showing my improvement, the bowl being in section. Fig. 2 is a similarview of a modification thereof.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
This invention consists in a tobacco-pipe. The stem, the mouth-piece, and the nicotinereservoir are made in one piece, the front end of the stem forming the base for the bowl, which is connected to said base by a screwthread, in such a manner that a cheap and durable pipe is obtained, which can be readily formed ot' hard rubber.
In the drawing, the letter A designates my improved pipe-stem, which is made in one piece with the mouth-piece and with the nicotine-receptacle E, the whole being formed, by preference, of hard rubber. The front end of the stem A forms a base, B, for the bowl-body i C, the base and bowl-body being connected to each other by means ot' a screw-threaded projection, D, which screws into the base B. In Fig. 2, the threaded projection is formed on the base of the stem, and screws into a socket formed for it in the bottom ofthe bowl-body. 'lhe air-passage of the pipe is made centrally through the projection D.
My improvement simplifies the construction of the stem, and all the parts are so arranged that they can be easily cleaned. A fresh bowl can be applied to the same stem, if desirable, with little trouble or expense.
AWhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A tobacco-pipe, the stem, the mouth-piece, and the nicotine-receptacle of which are made in one piece, and the inner end of the stem ot' which forms a base, B, provided with a screwthread, for the reception of the bowl C, all as shown and described.
