To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, DAVID MIoHIn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Irwin, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Travelers Sets, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to travelers sets,

and it has for its object to provide a relatively simple andcompact set that shall comprise an electrically heated device and means for selectively heating a plurality of appliances thereby.

In practicing my.invention I provide a box having a hinged cover, with means for holding an electric iron in an inverted position therein The iron may be energized through a conductor cord in its normal osition in the box, and is removable there om to permit its use for ordinary ironing operations. A pluralit of adapters, located 1n the box, are remova le therefrom to permit of their being located inoperative engagement with said iron to ho d appliances in heat-receivin relation thereto.

Abox 10 may be made of any suitable material, such as wood or sheet metal, and may be of any contour. have ahi If the box is made of wood it may hly finished and ornamental extenor, an if made of metal it may be suitsuitable or desired dimensions and staple or catch 14 on the box permits of closing the cover and of holding it closed or of locking the same. A suitable handle 15 is provided to'permit of carrying the closed box as may be required. In order to limit the opening movement of the cover a suitable ornamental chain 16, having its ends socured respectively to one end of the box and one end of the cover, is provided.

Within the box 10 there is located a supporting member or frame 17 of any suitable ordesired construction which is adapted to support an electric iron 18 in an inverted tp0- rec sition within the box and substantially and clear of contact with an of the side walls thereof. The height of t e supporting frame 17 is. such that the working surface of the iron 18, which is removabl located in the frame 17, lies above the top 0 the open box. As the iron may be of any suitable type and forms no part of my present invention, its construction is not further described. A twin conductor cord 19, of the type uually employed with electricirons, is provided to permit of energizing the same from any suitable outlet connected to an electric supply circuit. For this pur ose the outer end ofthe cord 19 is provide with a screw plug member 21 of the usual standard adapters to permit of their being easily and quickly removed from the box and replaced therein.

As the working surface or sole plate of the I iron 18 is preferably of the usual-triangular contour. the adapter 22 is also substantially triangular and conforms in its contour to that of the working surface of the iron. The adapter 22 comprises a sheet metal plate provided with a central and longitudinally extending circularly arched integral portion 25 which is of such diameter as to receive and closely surround the body rtion ofan ordiilary curling iron 26. e member 22 is .further provided with depending, integral, flange portions 27 which serve to secure the A hasp 13' on the lid 11, co-operating with a adapter 22 in close operative relation to the a laterally extending opening 28. The opening 28 is defined by an integral and laterally extending portion of the adapter 23, and may be of any suitable or desired contour and dimensions, but is here shown as substantially circular in contour to receive a metal fluid container or cup 29 which may also be located in the box 10 and held therein by a pair of resilient spring clips 31 secured to one side of the box.

The inside of the cover 11 may be lined with an ornamental-cloth such. as silk or plush, upon which .there maybe sewed a in the lining\ within the cover 11, the general object'of t e arrangement being to obtain an ornamental and convenient supporting means for such toilet articles as are usually carried by travelers. If desired, the curling iron 26 may be held in the cover member by a plurality of spring clips 34, or it may be located elsewhere in the box in any convenient position that will permit of its easy and uick removal.

If it is desired to employ the iron 18 for ordinary ironing operations" it may be removed from its support within the box, and the plug 21 placed in operative engagement with the ordinary supply circuit outlet, whereby the iron is heated in the usual manner.

If it is desired to heat the curling iron, the electric iron is allowed to remain in its suprt in the open box and is energized as ereinbefore described. The adapter 22 is slipped over the iron substantially as illustrated in Figs. 3 to 5 of the drawing, and the curling iron is placed in'the opening within the arched member 25. As the iron extends above the top of the open box, the curling ada ter 23 is employed, and t e container 29 is p aced in the opening 28 with its bottom resting upon the working surface of the iron to become heated thereby.

While I haveillustrated several particular forms of adapters, I do not desire to be limitedthereto, as it is obvious that-other forms of adapters may be devised to perform predetermined operations or to heat any one of a variety of appliances. The iron may, of course, also be employed for heating objects or appliances allowed to rest upon or be held close to the flat working surface without an adapter. The type of iron that I have ound particularly adapted to a set such as hereinbefore described is relatively small, weighing from one and one half to two from 80 to 100' watts input, garments of thin cloth-can easily be ironed satisfactorily, and

-the entire weight of the set will not exceed from five to seven pounds.

While an electric iron has been selected as illustrating an electrical heating device, I do not desire to be limited to this, as it is also obvious that any suitable type of electrical heatin device may be employed.

Various modifications may be made in the device without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and I desire that only such limitations shall be placed thereon as are imposed by the prior art or are specifically set forth in the appended claims.

I claim as my invention:

1. In a travelers set, in combination. a box, an electrically heated device in said box and removable therefrom, means for permitting the heating of said device in said box, and a plurality of removable adapters for permittin the employment of said device, while in its normal position in said box. in heating other appliances.

2. In a travelers set, in combination. a box, an electrically heated device located in said box and removable therefrom, means for permitting the heating of said device in said box, and a plurality of removable adapters for holding appliances to be heated by said device while in its normal position in said box, in heat-receiving relation thereto.

3. In a travelers set, in combination. a box, an electric iron removably mounted in an inverted position in said box. means for permitting the heating of said iron while in said box, and a plurality of removable adapters for holding articles to be heated by said iron in heat-receiving relation to the working surface thereof while the iron is in its normal position in said box.
