Description

T. S MAGOMBER.
Pie-Markers.
N0, 145,808, Patented Dec. 23,1873.
AMES i( wmesssis: A Inventum @ff/W UNITED STATES PATENT EEICE.
THOMAS S. MACOMBER, OF HAMILTON, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN PIE-MARKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,808, dated December 23, 1873; application' filed t October 18, 1573.
To all whom it may concer-n:
-Beit known that I, THOMAS S. MAcoMBER, of Hamilton, in the county of Madison and State of New York, have invented a new and ImprovedPie-Marker, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure] represents a sectional side elevation of my improved pie-marker, and Fig. 2 a bott-om view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invent-ion is to produce the trimming, marking, and stamping of pies or other articles by an instrument of simple and compact form, which is easily handled and readily applied on dishes of dierent shapes. My invention consists of a rotary trimmer of concave shape placed with a serrated marker on 'the end of a handle, said markerbein g provided on its face with a stamping design and air-hole cutters. y
A in the drawing represents the rotary trinr mer, which projects with a radial flange to some suitable distance beyond the serrated wheel B. The trimmer is preferably made concave, by which it may work on dishes of square, round, or other curved surfaces.` Trimmer A is rmly applied to wheel B, both turning freely on a shaft, a., at the end of handle G. The face of the wheel B is arranged with elevations, b, of any suitable design, for marking pies or other similar articles, and also with short projecting cutter-blades d, which pierce the dough, producing vent-holes for the escape of the air and other gases developed in baking. The dough used for the pie is rapidly trimmed by the sharp edge of the trim merA, while the serrated wheel B crimps it at the same time. The impress of the stamping device and cutters finishes the dressing of the pie before baking, forming thus avery useful and convenient instrument for the household.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire lto secure by Letters Patent- In au implement for marking and trimming pies, possessing a cutter, A, and marking-wheel B, the combination therewith of the stamping die I) and vent-hole cutters d, as and for the purpose specified.
THOMAS S. MAOOMBER.
