Description

wf T. Donemus Springs for Chairs, &c.`
N0 144,65@ Patented Nov. 18,1873.
J i N a J l s E f I :25:1 f1
UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM T. DoEEMUs, oF NEw YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN SPRINGS FOR CHAIRS, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,664, dated November 18, 1873 application filed Y August 30, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it lmown that I, WILLIAM T. DoREMUs, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Springs for Chairs 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had elongated to admit of the oscillation of seat.
To the top of the base A is attached a nut, E, that receives the screw D, which passes down through a metallic bush, F. To the upper end of the screw D is rigidly attached a plate or head, G. H are two rubber blocks, one upon each side of the'plate C. Upon the screw D, and below the lower block H, is placed a plate, I, which is held up by a nut, J. The rubber blocks H may be kept from turning by toes K formed upon the plates G I, said toes entering notches in blocks H. The toes or projections K, when the chair is oscillated, press laterally against the rubber, and thus make the spring more eicient.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of slotted rocking plate C,
center piece D, elastic blocks H H, and plates G I, as and for the purpose described.
WILLIAM T. DOREMUS. Witnesses:
T. B. Mosnnn, ALEX. F. RoBERTs.
