NICK GORG'ICHUK AND FRED sonoivroN, or REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA.
PANTS STRETCHER AND PRESSER.
Specification of Letters Patent.y Patented Mar. 30, 1920i.
. Application filed May 1, 1919. Serial No. 294,063.[
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, (1) NICK GORCI- yCHUK and (2) FRED SOLOMON, (1) a citizen of Ukraine and (2) a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Regina, in the Province ofv Saskatchewan and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pants Stretchers and Pressers, ofwhich the following 1s a specification.v
The primaryobject Vof the invention is to provide a ready means for stretching and pressing trousers, retaining the garment until desired for use, the invention possessing great strength and being foldable for packing away when found desirable.
A further object of the invention is to provide a presser and holder for trousers that is easy and inexpensive to manufacture adapted for the ready recept-ion of a garment for holding the same in pressed and stretched condition as long as desired and readily released at will,
With these general objects in view, the invention consists of the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described7 illustrated in the accompanying drawing and then claimed.
In the drawing forming a part of this application, in which like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the invention with a pair of trousers held therein,
Fig. 2 is an end elevation thereof,
Fig. 3 is a side view of the same,
Figs. 4 and 5 are transverse sectional views taken upon lines IV-IV and V-V respectively of Fig. 1,
Fig. 6 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken upon line VI-VI of Fig. 1,
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of one of the side frame members forming a part of the invention, and
Fig. 8 is a perspective view of a hinged portion of one of the positioning strips employed with the side members.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, a frame is provided for receiving and clamping a pair of trousers therein and comprises a cross head 10 at one end of the invention. Double sides 11 and 12 divergently project from said head being adapted to receive the edge portions 13 of a pair of trousers 14 therebetween with the trousers suitably folded in the usual manner for stretching purposes. l
Each of said sides of the frame comprises two similar side rails 15, the ends .of one pair of which are secured tothe head 10, each of said rails having laterally projecting arms 16. A pin 17 upon one of each pair of arms 16 slidably projects through a perjforation 18 in the adjacent arm while a clamping bolt 19 has its headed end 20 secured in each arm '16 which is provided -with a perforation 18, a winged nut 21 being provided upon the other end of each bolt 19 adjacent the arm 16 of each pair provided with one of the pins 17 The rails 15 are formed in two parts connected by hinges 22 and permitting the sections of the rails farthest from the head '10 to swing relatively outwardlyy when desired. Strips 23 formed in two sections 24 connected together -by hinges 25 are positioned within the opposite sides of the" folded garment such as the trouser leg 14 with the edges 13 between the rails 15 at the opposite sides of the invention. lThe nuts 21 are 'then tightened securing the rails 15 upon the garment with the strips 23 `flatlyV held.
between said rails. The strips 23 are shiftable through slots 26 in the head '10.
The end of one of the strips 23 projecting through a perforation 26 of the head 1() is pivoted as at 27 to spaced ears 28 upon the outer side of the vhead while a corresponding end of the other strip 23 projecting through the relatively longer slot- 26 is provided with a pivot 29 slidably mounted in slots 30 of spaced plates 31 upon the outer side of said head 10. This construction permits limited swinging movement of the strips 2.3 positioned between the rails 15 for accommodating the garment when placing the same upon and taking the garment off' of the frame.
The rails 15 constituting one side of the frame are free from the head 10 with the inner ends slidable on the head as shown in Fig. 3. Spacing screws 32 are swiveled as at 33 to a fixed rail 15 of one side of the.
Aprising a head, fralnersides `each consisting of spacedrfails divergently extending from saidhead with the rails .of one .side secured tothe head and of the other side unsecured thereto, clamping `bolts .connected between the `rai-ls of .each side of the frame, usting fscrews Iconnected `.between :thesides lof y.the frame, strips at opposite sides of the device pivoted -to said head and shiftably Apositioned between the rails at the opposite side of the `frame `adapted for the reception of a garment over said strips and between said rails during the-operation of the device.
2. A trousers ,stretcher comprising ,a head havingopenings therethrough, spaced rails projecting from said head forming one side of la-frame, connecting bolts between said rails, a strip pivoted to the outer side of thehead shiftably projecting through one off said openings and positioned between the railsof said side ofthe frame and a holding member opposite said frame side pivotally connected to the head and extending through Ithe other .one ci saidopenings.
'3. Atrousers stretcher comprising Ta head having openings therethrough, spaced rails projecting -rom Asaid head forming -one side of a 'f1-ame, connecting bolts between .said rails, a strip pivoted to the outer side of the fhead shiftably projecting through one of said openings and positioned between 4the rails of said side 0f the ramespaced rails adjustably connected together divergently arranged with respect to said frame side in abutting relation with said head, a positioning strip adjustably pivoted to VYthe head extending through the other one of Said openings and between lsaid last named rails and adjusting screws connected between each pair of rails at-the opposite .sides Iof .the device.
4:. A device of the class described comprising a head having slots therethrough, spaced lugs and spaced plates upon the outer side .of said head, a strip through one of said slots pivoted between said lugs, a strip through the other ,slot yslidably lpivoted between the said plates, the ysaid strips being formed in hinged sections and ia pair of clamping rails for each otsaid strips adjustably connected together .,convergently adjacent the opposite ends of the head.
5. A device rof theolass vdescribed comprisin-g a head having slots therethrough, spaced lugs and spaced plates upon the .outer side of ,said head, a strip Ythrough one of .said slots `pivoted between said lugs, a strip through the other slot slidably pivoted between the `said plates, the said strips being formed in hinged sections, l.hinged pairs-.Of rails convergently positioned with respect to said head forming opposite sides -ef natures.
